Decorating with Shiro snowwhitesoul July 15 2011, 17:38:59 UTC
Shinigamihood gave one amazing physical abilities. The ability to move faster than the eye could see. Fantastical destructive power. Strength beyond the pale of mortal capacity. But there was one thing it DIDNT afford and that was making it easier for short little Kuchiki's to reach the ceiling with streamers. Seriously, this was ridiculous.

"Shiro?" Where was he? He was supposed to be doing this, not her! "Where are you?"

Shiro is in another room, setting out some of the snacks they'd "catered" by wishing them up. And eating them. Well, he was hungry! He was always hungry... Shiro is already dressed for the party in his white and black suit. His hair is long, to mid-back, and in a ponytail, his ears are decorated with silver and black rings and he has his tail out for further accent.

He groans and come into the other room, "What! What do you want, midget? I'm setting out snacks!" He says through a mouthful of shrimp cocktail.

Looking down over her shoulder at him, Rukia nearly rolled her eyes. Of course he was eating and not doing what she asked him to. Which was lay out the tablecloth and make sure all the food was set out and covered. Whichever, as long as it got done, what he ate could be replaced.

"Could you tape these streamers to the ceiling, please? I...can't reach."

Shiro stuffs the rest of the shrimp in his hand into his mouth and nearly, NEARLY, wipes his hand on his nice white pants. Then thinks better of it and dusts them off... Then licks them and wipes them on the part of his black shirt that's covered with his white jacket.

Then he laughs, hard. "KEEEHEEHE! You're too much of a midget!! Here, here, give those to me." He snatches the streamers and tape from her. He kicks off his shoes and socks and shifts his feet into their more draconian forms, giving him about five more inches when he stands up properly. Now it's super easy for him to tape up streamers. "hehehe.. I can't believe you actually admitted to being too short to do something!"

Baking with Kanji snowwhitesoul July 15 2011, 17:50:23 UTC
Tatsumi-san had seemed eager to bake the birthday cake for the party. Which was a relief, because short of following the instructions on the box, Rukia possessed zero expertise in how to do such a thing. Any time she'd been present at an event that cake was called for, it was either provided by others or purchased. And, well...she wanted to make this nice for the three of them.

Noon and she was there and knocking on the frame of the door to the shop.

"Tatsumi-san?"

Kanji had managed to get together the ingredients that they would need in order to make the cake and was arranging them on the counter upstairs when he thought he heard something downstairs. While the shop, when it was open, had a bell on the door to let him (or, well, his mother, back home) know that someone was inside, it was harder to hear knocking. That said, he was expecting Rukia, and after checking the time, went downstairs to make sure.

"It's open!" He was opening the door for her anyway, but hey, might as well let her know. "You ready to do this?" Because it would be awesome.

"Yes!"

Truth be told, this was one of the things she'd been looking forward to the most. Some of the most simple, pedestrian things like baking she'd never been able to experience. Noble daughters of the Kuchiki clan didn't belong in kitchens baking. And she'd never had the chance to learn otherwise in the Rukongai.

"Tell me what you'd like me to do."

"Well, we gotta measure some stuff out and mix certain ingredients together first. There's a bowl for the dry stuff right here." Kanji points to a large, green bowl sitting next to the measuring cups before pointing at those, too. "We'll use those to get the right amount of ingredients. I put the recipe book up on the top of the oven." Another point, this time to an old, propped-up book, pages open to a cake recipe. "So to start, can you measure out the dry ingredients and put them in that bowl?"
