Well, to put it quite simply and honestly, Ed didn't have a clue in the world where the hell he was now.

He'd woken up here not more than an hour and a half ago, groggy and completely bewildered -- a bedroom was not what he was expecting, if he was actually lucky enough to wake up at all after going through the Gate. Where had Alfons's plane gone? Did someone find him, then? Ed didn't seem that worse for wear, besides the bullet hole in his clothes and the small dent in his arm, but he still had the uncomfortable ache of... well, having jumped out of an airplane and crashed through a glass ceiling. Someone must have brought him here, though, and he should have crash-landed, by all means... he should have felt much worse than he did now ( ... )

Roy, of course, didn't pay particular attention to the fact that someone else had come around at first. A city's a city for a reason: it was full of folks, especially in broad daylight. As such, it was only after he had stood up on the premise of leaving and gotten a good look at the other that he paused.

He'd recognize that figure anywhere, really, that build, and that hair. The height wasn't quite right, but everything else, including the aura...

Who would've thought? He should have considered the possibility. Something told him, however, that even if he had, it wouldn't have prepared him any better.

"...Edward?"

Odd, perhaps, for Roy to be calling him by his first name, but after everything, it was hard to really determine how they could pick up again, if he was right about this.

Ed definitely wasn't expecting to hear that, and despite having not heard it for two years now, Ed recognized the voice immediately: the Colonel, his voice was always unmistakable. Almost as if someone had prodded him awake rather violently, Ed's head snapped up, demeanor slipping into alert and most certainly confused. He hadn't been paying enough attention to know where the voice had come from, but it couldn't possibly be his own imagination. He was sure of that.

If that reaction wasn't a dead giveaway, Roy didn't know what was.

Still, a part of him had hoped, perhaps, that he had been wrong.

The alchemist approached, slipping his mask off as soon as he was within the boy's line of vision. A part of him thought, idly, what Edward Elric might think, seeing him again. Seeing that eyepatch.

He wasn't really looking forward to explaining.

"So they brought you here too."
