"Hello?" Naomi poked her head into the kitchen, having received Ichigo's message shortly after she'd inadvertently shattered her mirror again. She wasn't familiar with anyone she was living with, but she intended to remedy that as soon as possible. They were living together, after all.

... Which meant sooner or later, a houseful of people would know what she was, but she had time. For now--

"Do you need any help?"

And this is Rukia peering over the top of her stack of plates at the newcomer. Its a rather tall stack and she's rather short, so its not like Naomi can see much above her eyebrows.

"No, I'm fine," she says as she troops along to the table. Despite the weight, she doesn't seem to be struggling much. "But if you wish to help, there's silverware and hanshi that need to be brought to the table."

When first exploring the kitchen, Rukia had discovered the house had supplied both standard Western utensils and traditional chopsticks. So, taking the cue from that, she decided to supply both at the table.

"Of course!" Naomi very nearly floated the silverware and chopsticks over, but refrained from giving the utensils a brief flight. No use weirding out her housemates just yet, and instead she walked over to gather everything in hand, before she headed to the table.

Much to her relief, Rukia hadn't been defeated by the plates, though she hadn't been entirely sure who would win for a few minutes there. Given how many she'd been holding, Naomi had almost bet on the plates.

Rukia's stronger than she looks, don't let the skinniness fool you! She hauls the pile up on the edge and begins to dole them out across the table. Carry a handful, then return for more. She'd been to plenty of fancy dinners with her brother, and had seen Yuzu's handiwork when she prepared special dinners for the family, so she can at least work from memory on how to set up a table.

The stack dispersed, Rukia goes back to the kitchen for more plates, passing Naomi in the process.

"Thank you for the help...?" At this point, Rukia wished that someone would've supplied a housing chart. Giving the girl a smile, she bowed quickly. "Sorry, I'm Kuchiki Rukia."

Eden is very used to eating in a large group. The Morrison family table is always full of parents and siblings and soon enough to be full of children and one day their children too. Taught by her mother and sisters how to cook, all of Eden's recipes account for the large group. They eat nothing like what Rukia cooks, however. No curry or gyoza or udon. The interesting smells lure her along after the grumpy boy has made the announcement.

She peers around the corner curiously, wondering what tonkatsu are and if she should really be here.

Oh, Rukia recognizes you.

Coming back from the first stack of plates being put on the table, the little shinigami stops when she sees the woman from her first night here leaning into the doorway cautiously, peeking into the kitchen where Ichigo better have put the odango down and started flipping the tonkatsu so that the other side of the breaded pork could brown. Standing still for a moment, Rukia waits for the woman to move into the kitchen so she can say hello. But seeing the girl not budge, Rukia clears her throat.

"Eden-san?"

She turns to look at the other girl. She blinks slowly, tilting her head. She doesn't understand the suffix, but she supposes she recognizes her own name irregardless. It takes her a moment, but she eventually steps into the light of the kitchen.

"Hello, Rukia."

Her attention turns back to the food, wondering what all these strange things are. They don't look anything like mother's cooking, or even like the pizza Kelly sometimes feeds her when she goes down to the city to see him.

She walks into the kitchen and gathers up another armload of dishes. She expect that maybe their first meeting the night before was so awkward because of everyone being dumped into a mutual dream. But she watches the woman stare into the kitchen, unmoving and seemingly lost in her own thoughts. There's a stretch of time where Rukia waits for Eden to do something and she...doesn't.

Eventually, she awkwardly clears her throat.

"Do you need any help?"

Okay. With enough gyoza to supply a small country arranged in several tiers, Ichigo has been press-ganged into pushing the cart with two separate - and huge - electric rice steamers into the dining room proper.

Now, after trying some of the steamed vegetables, and gyoza, himself, he is in a far more pleasant mood. Hell, he even tries to smile a little at some of the unfamiliar faces.

And Rukia's going to be scuttling around him getting the last of the dishes into place. Others in the house have already been press-ganged as Ichigo had into setting the table or getting the lighter platters and pitchers into place as well. Observing the way that everything was coming together, a little glow of pride settled in her chest. It looked good. Nothing fancy, mind you, but it looked like it was a dinner table.

"Almost done," she sighed.

Ky wandered into the area, keeping casual by leaving the bulk of his uniform in his room. He was, admittedly, a little late -- something he'd have to apologize for when he met the hosts. He still felt bad for not providing anything too. It was somewhat last minute for him, especially since he didn't think he would come.

Well, he was here now. He looked around, noting there was already a table set. Others were helping around as well.

"Hello?" He called out.

"Hello!" came the cheery response, and Naomi finished folding the last napkin before she headed over to greet the newcomer. She was a friendly person by nature, and it was no great effort to give Ky a genuinely warm smile in greeting.

"My name is Naomi Umegae." With a polite bow, at that. "It seems we'll be living together now, and I'll try my best not to be an inconvenience."

He was more used to a handshake for a greeting, but Ky bowed his head slightly in return.

"Ky Kiske," he said in response. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Umegae. I'm sure you won't be an inconvenience at all."

"I hope not, but I'll make an effort not to be, regardless!" Naomi laughed sheepishly. The manner with which she'd been addressed pretty much told her what she needed to. Honorifics weren't needed. "But I'll look forward to getting along with you, Mr. Kiske."
