(aka your heroine watches things that do not come straight onto her tv at 6.30 on a Saturday)
(aka your heroine has an internet that allows her to do things now, omg.)

BOMB GIRLS.

Does anyone want to tell me how this show exists? I spent my snowbound Sunday (hush, a centimetre or two in London is as exciting as it gets) catching up on this and falling ( Read more... )

I started watching Xena. From the start because I'm crazy like that (or too anal).

In the first few eps Gabrielle fangirl's over her, they decide they'll always have each other, they check out each others boobs and mention it and the adopt a baby together.

I'm suspecting this is pretty much how it continues.

And yes it's completely ridiculous but you get sucked in so easily and totally start to get excited when she does that battle yodel thing.

Yes, I will be watching more and not just to eye up Lucy Lawless.

I quite enjoy starting things a little distance from the beginning. It takes most books and shows a few test runs to find their comfort zone :P But lol, I'm not surprised the subtext was always a feature.

...The yodel isn't necessary. Hilarious, though.

Oh I would just get all antsy wondering what I missed. I have issues.

And the yodel is very much superfluous (I absolutely haven't gone from thinking it's ridic though to going 'yeah! go xena!'... *shifty eyes*)

I was nodding along, all 'Yay, Bomb Girls, yay, totally need to watch it properly someday!' And then I got to Xena, and now my eyes are just hearts. WORDS, WHAT ARE THOSE THINGS.

I don't actually remember any male character in Xena that you are supposed to take seriously, although tbh the last few seasons are spotty to me so I could be remembering incorrectly.

...I suppose I mean I can't take any of the non-female relationships seriously, which possibly hampers the overall story? And if I were in it for any other reason, I would worry about what that reflected about the writing.

Fort., I'm saved such agonisingly deep thoughts. :P

oh god, Land Girls bored me stiff. MAKE WAR DRAMA DRAMATIC, PLS. I can't remember, did you enjoy the BBC Night Watch the other month?

code name is out, Charing Cross Foyles should be fired.

Whoo, that's proper invested. do itt. it was all right -- a wee bit paint by numbers without the atmosphere, but still nice enough. also, claire foy's face.

It was, we were selling it and everything! I picked up my proof like three days after we'd put it out on the shelves! Foyles just don't know their business, and I get to be sniffy about chains now.

I... gave them away and only have pdfs now. :P But I'll keep an eye out for hard copies lying around!

I have been watching The Good Wife all day every day since Friday. Best decision of my life so far. Kalinda is my homegirl.

And Xena WAS my life between the ages of twelve and fourteen. Though I missed the point for approximately eighteen months and shipped Gabrielle/Iolas.

(SHUT UP I WAS A SPECIAL BABY LESBIAN).

kalindaaaa. all girls I know tell me to watch it for her, little knowing i've also loved Julianna since she played Morgaine. But I suspect this is the kinda show one has to watch from the start?

HOLD THE FUCKING PHONE. She played MORGAINE? As in Mists of Avalon MORGAIN?

Oh christ I knew I recognised those eyebrows from somewhere...

(but yes you are probs best starting to watch this show from the start, though not every ep is essential - anjali's giving K a list of pertinent eps to watch, so maybe ask her?)

of course she did, and she was perfect. I blame in part my childhood love for Morgan on her. although almost every woman who's played her has been marvellous to some degree.
