Here's a couple of links to demonstrate you can make a really beautiful and smooth cake or a rainbow (looks more like tie die) cake without a lot of equipment or classes. My point is if you want to try decorating, look around at what you have in your house, such as cookie cutters for patterns, and have fun the next time you make a cake. Exception:

I wasn't planning on making my own wedding cake. However, I cook for Martin regularly. I think he would like the rainbow cake, and it looks like fun.

I may try it this weekend in the Castle Pan we bought over Christmas. I can call it Rainbow-Brite's Castle...

Let me know how that works out -- I've wondered if the colors can still be visible when it is baked, or does the cake have that general brown look on the outside
