Whoa, the cakes are really cool. Very professional, but my favorite is the quirky white, pink, and green thing. I still haven't figured out what is the. Looks like an evil anime character's face to me...
LOL...The green monster is supposed to be a field of green with daisies. On top is a picnic blanket with two plates, napkins and a cake. And, it was a monster to make, considering the fondant wouldn't behave. I would love to attempt some anime cakes, considering how much fun it is to work with gum paste.
OK, I see it now. I wondered what the little creases are in the "eyes". Now I see that they're the edge of the paper plates. LOL! I actually think that the cake in a cake is sort of, well, Shakespearean (ok...that's a bit of a stretch to Midsummer Night's Dream, but whatever).
But I swear that looking at it from the top on low resolution, it did look like a cartoon character, albeit one with a cake-shaped nose.
Now, you've inspired me to write some manga featuring creatures coming out of cakes...maybe the fondant recipe makes the pastries a portal for another dimension, and the creatures jump out like the adipose critters from Doctor Who (yes, I've been sniffing too much frosting lately).
