[ She's never really alone, but every once in a while Shiro will wander off for some reason or another, Ichigo and Rukia will be moving around, helping others or lighting lanterns and passing them on. John and Tavros are doing their own thing and drop in periodically. So there are gaps where they pass by, or someone else passes on through, right on by the dark elf. Who refuses to move from this one particular spot.

When she sees someone she recognizes she might shift her gaze to them, but other than that she doesn't seem to be moving.]

[ she is warm enough, but that's not what troubles him. so while her companions are off muddling about--which is what he'd usually say they were doing, but now, silent--he kneels by her and gently reaches out to touch her shoulder.

[ When he touches her she doesn't move at first. Her senses are all off kilter now. She's not actually listening to all those sounds around her, nor is she seeing anything but what she's focusing on unless she actually wills herself to.

And when her name is spoken, she forces herself to look up at him. Then she nods, ]

Yes. [ Her voice cracks and she speaks quietly, ] You're Zaheer. Are you...waiting?

Yes.

[ his hand squeezes the handle of the woven basket he carries. he wishes he could've said no.

he wishes he had said no. leaders do not show their suffering, after all. they serve as hope for their people. ]

However, I am helping those grieving. I suspect you are waiting for your companions.

I'm sorry.

[ She wished she could help others right now, but it was too hard to put that smile back on her face. She would feel so bad for that later. ]

That's kind of you... [ she glances to the Unnatural again. ] My knights.

[becomesking]

It is not kind. [ stubborn. ] It is simply necessary. [ people need to be healthy for him to hate them, gdit. ]

[ Were she in the right state of mind, she would have laughed at that. ]

No. [ Why did everyone think that, just because she said she had knights? Maybe she should have specified that it was just a title. They were her protectors. ] I am just... lucky to have them.

[ a pause. he searches her face to see if she is lying and simply wants to conceal her position, but he sees nothing in her face that would say such a thing.

[ Nope, she's telling the truth. Lior does not lie. ]

Mmm. [ She nods, ] Thank you. [ For at least being nice enough to talk to her even if she's quiet and looks like a zombie. ]

I will pray to the gods that they come back to you safe.

[ and with that, he outstretches his hand out to her. ]

May I take your hand, for a moment?

[ She stares for a moment, then slowly raises her hand up, nodding. ]

[ he gently takes her hand and covers it with his other one, closing his eyes. ]

[ She knows she is, but she has to stay here, she has to stay awake. ]

I ... I used my magic... healing. But I have to wait... I have to wait for them.

Perhaps I could lend you some of my own.

No...you need it. [ Squeezes his hand lightly. ]
