Maybe delay. Maybe mistake. He can't know, and the uncertainty shifts uneasily through his code. It will work. That's what Rinzler tells himself, anyway, as he hovers above. The lightjet is in steady motion, a basic subroutine keeping it in pattern. The rest of his processing splits between analyzing the PORTAL data and visually scanning the city below.
He can track the glitch on foot. She's still digital, still leaves a familiar datapath he can follow-and this place isn't of users entirely, it seems. It's reliable. Certain. But it's also slow. He can be fast-and he knows from experience he can push through longer than any program he's met. But she has a headstart. Advantage. Too much of one. If he can find her from above... it would be far better.
He's still surprised when he succeeds.

at first he sort of hesitates. because, like he said, they shouldn't be fighting--this isn't a place where everyone has to fight to survive. Heartless aren't around, neither are Nobodies. but this guy--his aggression comes back in full strength and he swings three times--an upslash, a downslash, and one to the side.
he doesn't care if none of them connect, but he's focusing on making him back up, maybe disoriented as he already is. ]

It was effective, but the very thought of how draining it must be to fight like this all the time made her question if vanishing from the realm of light would be worth it-yes, it was.]
We don't wish to hurt you further.
['Master... what should I do-?' She doesn't wish to destroy someone else, doesn't want to fight, but the power is all there to be used. She would defend herself and Sora; nothing more. Holding out a hand in a manner meant for peace, she's still focusing. If he makes one wrong move...] Please.

The other's words are a distant sound, one Rinzler focuses sharply on-not as an offer, but a threat. This opponent's proved more dangerous as of yet, and his functions balance on the edge of reaction. He's not up to full capacity, but he should be able to pull back-or lunge and strike a blow-if he moves immediately on detection. For now, he leaves the other's body ( ... )

he's hoping the other's going to take Aqua's words to heart... he seemed to have heard her, but what will he do if Sora doesn't attack? he simply turns his blade and puts a hand further along it, his Keyblade acting as a shield instead of a weapon now. ]
Come on. You don't have to chase anyone if you don't want to, no one's bossing you around. And there's no way you could like chasing people...

Then the small one speaks, and his processing stills with confusion. Understanding. Derision.
They actually thought...
If he were capable, Rinzler would laugh, sound harsh with amusement (bitterness). But he can't. That's not what he's made for.
He's made to follow orders. Hunt who Clu says to hunt, derezz who he commands destroyed. Play his Games. Wait, silent and ready in defense. That's what defines him. That's all he is.
And the chase, the fight? That's all that he enjoys.
Rinzler's gaze drops, invisible behind the mask, to his left-hand disk. The faint red smear lingering, sticking to stain the blazing white edge. Error prickles through his code, unease (distress), but he stares harder. Rejects the sensation. He gave them one free pass. The program won't glitch again.
He strikes. The delay has almost fully restored his systems, functions and energy stabilizing, accessible, and he drains that power to channel force to the blow. Direct, hard, ( ... )

[ the barrage reminds him of someone else's.
clang, clang, clang. the metal of Ultima Weapon sounds out through the alley and Sora struggles to keep it still. his knees threaten to buckle under the pressure, his stance physically altered the more Rinzler hits him. he's really powerful--but Sora is too. and maybe his defense isn't all it should be, but his heavy hitting would make up for it...
if only he could get in a clear blow--
he pulls back to shift back into offensive mode when the slash connects and Sora cries out.
with one hand over his chest, trying to stop his bleeding, and the other still holding his Keyblade up, he fixes Rinzler a tough look.
It'll take more than that.
he hopes. ]

[That had done it.
Something snapped inside Aqua, and for a moment, invisible behind her helmet, there was a crestfallen look before being replaced with pure rage. The time for reasoning was over, and all she could see was a familiar bodysuit and mask who had destroyed...
Shaking her head clear of the image, she allowed her magic to weave around her, surrounding her armor in a bright light. Two pearls circle around her as, in a flash, she is gone again, metal suddenly aimed for Rinzler's hands and disks-and not just in one blow, but in several, incredibly swift blows before she's disappeared again, this time to Rinzler's right and charging a spell. All she can hear is that scream, and is doing all she can to keep everything from going red in her field of vision.
Just as quickly, she points the Keyblade to his helmeted head, crying out "Freeze!" and unleashing a Blizzara spell before teleporting again to just beside Sora. Wordlessly pointing the tip to the sky again, healing petals begin falling around them.] Are you okay ( ... )

That's all he has time to process. Rinzler had been ready to evade her attacks, clear the area entirely if need be. But he hadn't calculated for this.
His planned followthrough to the smaller user is aborted as the light builds- he steps back, only to have her vanish, suddenly there. He'd be glad for this-he'd wanted to close, she had seemed weaker up close. But she's not weak now. The blade swings in-hard, fast, vicious. He angles his disk, deflects the attack, but she strikes again. Swift slashes, forceful, enough to drive him back as he parries, ducks, just barely avoids the strike. He tries to lash out, but she vanishes again-reappears to the side. The miss sets him off-balance, and he struggles to rise, turn-
'Freeze.'
Cold. It's not something he's felt often, but the word fits. There's whiteness, blinding, covering his mask-he can feel the sharp chill seeping through to his outer code. He steps back, panic rising (can't see), aural sensors detecting a displacement of air. Diagnostics flash-sensors are ( ... )

he's taken worse! He can take this. ... he still wobbles because ugh, his chest... but the display Aqua shows after calling his name is nothing short of incredible, and it does sort of numb him to his own pain. whoah.
moving that fast? he could never manage it, no way. but Aqua was doing it with ease. he wishes he could just cure himself, but his magic isn't replenishing fast enough. and there's no way he can get in between them and land his own hit, Aqua's going too fast--so he feels a little sheepish when she does pull back, and when Rinzler darts away. with his chest healed, he winces, looking at his torn shirt. now there's two scars... ]
Should we go after him?

Aqua's a little sorry about that, but she couldn't help it... she just snapped. It's one of her faults--being overprotective, she'll admit it. Maybe over time the Master will stop seeing him as the little boy she once met.]
...No. Hopefully we held him up long enough for Quorra to get some distance. [She turns to Sora, dismissing her Keyblade and armor to show all the magical ash covering her face and the sliced sleeve. How she hadn't gotten mad before, no one will know...]
Are you alright?

It's gone. Vision restored. Rinzler hesitates-then moves out in a burst of speed, sensors flaring out as he stares around, weapons splitting as he looks for his attackers.
...No pursuit.
His noise whirs out across the empty rooftop, head tilting in confusion as the program turns, moves slowly to retrace his path. And there. Below, where he'd first disengaged. They're both standing. Talking. The small one stands more easily than he should, and Rinzler's gaze flicks to the female. She's there, unhurt-but seems more tired than before. Repair utility. A skilled one. Can she repair herself?

We should probably go see if someone else saw Quorra, or try to get a message to her.
