(ooc: Whenever you're ready. I just thought Alice and Cuddy needed to meet up again :-))Cuddy toweled off briskly after her morning swim. She was trying to get back in the habit of daily exercise. Aside from the fact that the excellent food at the Hotel made exercise imperative lest she lose the body she'd worked so hard to maintain, there was ( Read more... )

Alice yawned and stretched as she entered the dining room. She'd gotten up early and read for a while in her room before her stomach insisted that it needed something in it besides air.

She'd slipped on jeans and a t-shirt, happy to discover that the hotel was considerate enough to provide her with new clothes whenever she pined for them hard enough. She padded over to the buffet table, piling a plate with eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns. A hot cup of tea finished the meal.

When she saw Cuddy, she took her food and sat down next to her. "Haven't seen you around here in a while. How've things been?"

Cuddy gave Alice's breakfast an envious glance--god, to be young again-- but then looked up at Alice with a genuine smile.

"Hey," she said as Alice took a seat. It did seem like a long time since she'd spoken to Alice, but then it was hard to tell in this place where time was not always what it seemed. Certainly, things had happened, changed since they'd last spoken and she wasn't sure she could say it was all for the better.

"Oh, I've been trying to keep busy. Met a few new 'guests.' Talked to an old friend." She shrugged and reached for her coffee cup. "What have you been up to?"

"About the same, minus the old friend. I don't have any here. How's your friend?" She munched on a bit of her bacon. "One of the doctors you came here with?"

Alice tried to study Cuddy's face. She knew she was good at reading people - it was why she'd always made good tips - but Cuddy was hard. Alice suspected that being a doctor bred that in people.

"Yeah, he's from home. James Wilson," she said before blowing on her coffee to cool it to drinking temperature. She took a sip, then set the cup down.

"I felt kind of bad after I talked to him," she admitted. "I mean, I've had some rough days since getting stuck here, but he was having a really bad time.... And I never noticed."
