I NEED INVESTORS

Aug 18, 2007 00:09

Hey friends. I would finally like to get a solo album out, but one thing is constantly thwarting me: Money. I work a crappy day job that barely makes ends meet, so it's not really going to help me get my album out, so I'm going to try and get some investment from anyone willing to do so ( Read more... )

It does take a lot of resources to produce and press your own work. Getting patrons has been the easiest way for artists in the past and present. Bibio is said to be a patron of Michael Eion from Boards of Canada, and for centuries the people in control of the wealth, such as the Medici family during the Renaissance, ran the show.

Today though, American capitalism gives you as an individual more opportunities than ever to invest in your own ideas and take risks with your own capital. Loans are theoretical money. Short term loans or other sorts of personal investments might be an option that you might want to think about. Obtain a loan and raise some money to pay it off and buy another round.

Good luck finding patrons.

I don't have the credit for a loan. I've already got one investor for a large portion of the sum.

we're coming up on money day for our album too. Luckily,my partner and I have had time to save up, so we've got the money on hand. But we know we're not going to see it again. The cash we're going to drop, roughly equal to what you outlined, is pretty much the total of all the gifts we want to give our friends. That's why we made an album - to give something to our friends. We're not likely to sell a whole bunch.
I guess my word is, if you can find someone to help bankroll it, run with it. But don't get hung up on that.
good luck

w/ 3500 dollars, you could OWN your own project studio with ALL the equipment to make your own beats, record, mix, AND master. your local library prolly has 10 books on recording and mixing, and another 5 on mastering. you'll need a little bit more for reproduction and cameos and buying beats but think of the THIRTY FIVE HUNDRED dollars you'll save everytime you cut an album. I made the investment and its the best 3500 i EVER spent. think about it. if you're wondering what kind of quality 3500 and a little know how gets you listen to the tracks on this myspace, all recorded, mixed, and mastered by me.
