What an original hook for a story! My friend has this; it's called "Thunderclap Migraine." Or at least, she had it for a while. I think her doctor told her it was estrogen related. You have my condolences.

Great story! Is this a typo -- "diversion therapy?" I think you mean aversion therapy.
