if your passion is useful for the corporate world then you're on easy street. but it's not for everybody. i'm just bitter. it's like a mini-caste system.

Get used to it. This is how the real world works. You better get your head out of the sand of idealism and come down to reality. A lot of people's goal is to make a lot of money. Ask Steve Sorkin and he will tell you how much money can bring you in your life. Listen to "Material Girl" by Madonna. Look at Bill Gates and Martha Stewart, you try to explain your thoughts to them and they will slam you, literally. Anyone who says money is the root of all evil, does not have any. They say money can't buy happiness look at my smile!! Ear to Ear Baby!!
