Aggh, the cuts don't work for me at all!!! I've tried putting them all on different lines: in this case, brackets equal < and >

like:

(lj-cut text="Read more")

my text here

(/lj-cut)

~*~

(lj-cut text="Read more")
my text here
(/lj-cut)

~*~

(lj-cut text="Read more")my text here(/lj-cut)

~*~

(lj-cut text="Read more") my text here (/lj-cut)

do you know what I'm doing wrong? Do I have to change something in my settings? It lets me cut to users and communities.

You're doing them exactly right. But here's what's probably giving you fits... (smile)

First, if you've never friended your own journal, do so right away. (Go to your profile/info page and add yourself.)

Once you've made an entry, every time you edit the entry, you'll automatically see the full entry -- minus any cuts.

So you'll need to go and view your 'Friends' -- and see how your entry displays there. You should see the cuts there just fine.

Does that make sense?

Trust me, you're doing the code just fine! And you can do it in numerous ways, depending on what you want to display. I have a friend who tends to center the cuts, for example. It's all good!

Let me know if you follow this -- or not. I'm glad to try and make it more clear...

Oh my gosh, thank you SO MUCH! >_< I was wondering why it just wouldn't show up! You're a total lifesaver.
