Finally!

My summer holiday started! A month and a half, during which I have to do absolutely nothing at all! I so very much needed it. What with working my ass off all through last summer, and then having a basically the worst year off school ever, completed with a spring of doing 12+ hour days of work and school for almost a month, I've been pretty much on ( Read more... )

In truth, I keep going between Tuomo and Mikko as my #1 favorite, (is it bad that neither of them are players from my own team? :D), but most of the time Mikko loses just barely, simply because his personality is so much more accessible. I love Mikko to bits and pieces, but sometimes I just get frustrated with just how introvert he is.

We so could've used him this year at the Worlds. Considering the already existing on-ice chemistry with him and Mikko, he would've likely been much better with on the first line than Jokinen. And putting Jokinen on the second line might've made them slightly less anemic. And as for the locker room presence, it just seemed like there were too many times during the tournament when the team seemed like they were convinced they were going to lose, no matter the score and someone like Tuomo could've maybe lifted their spirit in those times. If only..

I'm really not fan of Jordan getting an "A" already. Why on earth the hurry?

For me, the frustration with Mikko is not so much about wheather he's saying the right things with media or not (full closure, for me, he's at his hottest when he's clearly annoyed with them.. :D), as it is about feeling like trying to get a handle on who he is as a person. Like, if asked to choose words to describe what I think he's like off the ice, I mostly just draw a blank.
And maybe frustration is a wrong word for it, because it implies that I don't respect his right to keep that part of himself private, which I do. So maybe the difference is that while Mikko is someone I'll gladly admire from afar, where as Tuomo is someone who would be really cool to get to know. Am I making any kind of sense?

Jalonen made a mistake in trying to use him in Tuomo's role. Jussi's Jussi, not Tuomo and he shouldn't have been forced to play in a role that way obviously tailor-made for Tuomo. And Mikko was a part of the problem, too, IMO, he was playing as if Jussi was Tuomo (which he was probably hoping, haha). Considering how well Tuomo's style ( ... )
