Busy week...

Managed to complete the covers for 2 books and now I'm about 5 strips away from completing the basic content for Volume 3. You can see a preview for one of them at KS' flickr.

Some nice things happened - like eating at the Counter for lunch a few days after it opened at Kahala Mall. The wait can be long and service somewhat slow as ( Read more... )

What did you order at the counter? They built one here but I haven't gone

I usually get the build-your-own burger. For $9 it's not too bad. It starts at 1/3 lb (after cooking weight - so the burger's still pretty big) and you can choose your cheese, toppings, bun, sauce, etc.

I had the 1/3 lb burger with regular burger bun, sprouts, grilled onions, hard-boiled eggs, and (one more topping that I forgot...) with an au jus sauce on the side. We also ordered the 1/2 fries and 1/2 onion strings (which go great on the burgers too) and they came with a ranch sauce and bbq sauce - which also go great on the burgers. ^^

Pretty good, a little pricy, but you walk out pretty full.

Hrm, sounds about right, a little pricey but you'll be full. Seems to always be crowded there.
I found out that Islands raised their prices on their burgers too but it's actually cos they included a portion of fries with it now.

Never been to Taylor's, never had the urge. Too many mixed reviews, but there's no harm in trying it once. Are you aiming for the one at the Ferry Building or in Napa?

Zuni Cafe in SF is supposed to have a good burger, and roasted chicken on bread salad for 2 (but there's a 45 minute wait so most everyone recommend placing the order as soon as you're seated).

Really? I just eat their burgers, fries, shakes, and spicy tomato soup. So far, we haven't been disappointed~ ^^ (We went to the Ferry Building one)

Zuni Cafe sounds familiar... Is this it?

That's the one! Heh, mixed reviews for everyone. I wish the reviewer was more specific in how the food was not so good.
