A Question for Semagic Users

Aug 24, 2011 19:29

Downloaded Semagic and I thought it was working great until meekosan told me that my posts are messed up on her MYLJ page.
It seems everything looks fine when viewed thru the friends page.  Anyone have any suggestions?

I am moving steadily into the LJ is seriously ticking me off stage.

It's possible that the others (in reference to your PM to me) might type their posts directly into their program. I don't know. I don't get problems with their posts but its also possible that their entry doesn't make it into MyLJ feed when I'm on as it might get pushed back quickly (max is 25 posts that it shows).

Your posts show up fine through the friends page, considering mostly everyone is using that... well... *smirks*

I don't know how you type it up, if you copy/paste it from word or what not, but semagic is safe. You can build your post in it and write in it, and you can save drafts if you have to.

I do c/p from a word document.

next time I will work directly in Semagic instead of word, maybe that will help. Is that how you do it?

Yep, it's how I do it. Word gives these nasty side effects. It's a bit trickier when pasting fanfic in there, but it's easily solved by putting < i>for italics< /i> and < b>for bold< /b> in the fic and then past it all as text in semagic (in the html option, you can edit then in WYSIWYG if needed).

You all lost me a couple of days ago. I just use regular old LJ in the html screen and have never tried anything else.

That said - I have no problem reading anything that you've posted. I can see everything, it's where it should be on my friends page, it shows up when it should, and there's no strange codes.

Am I missing a reason that you just don't post in lj in the regular post to journal page? Because I cut and paste from word in there no problem.

When LJ updated the RTF last week for posting, it messed up the formatting by adding unwanted lines, breaks and other formatting issues. Anyone who wasn't used to hmtl either had to learn fast or go to a client plug in for posting. Semagic is the client that I liked, there are still a few bugs but not many.

Unless, I want to learn how to format all my posts by hand - this is what I am stuck with. Works fine except for folks who view entries thru their MYLJ page instead of friends pages. I think Meeko is my only friend that this affects.

Short entries still work ok thru RTF, but longer posts and fics I will have to use the client - unless LJ hears the masses and corrects the issues (crossing my fingers that they do. It was so easy and user friendly before)

I think where I'm getting lost is how much html other people use in posts. With the exception of italics and bold, I don't code anything when I post in the html screen. I don't code spacing or anything.

When I post fanfics, I have a template that I cut and paste in each time and the change the other info.

Ooooh, cheat sheet - I need one of those. Lol

I believe we will work it out, still on that learning curve and nothing works 100%. I do like the client Semagic, so I think I will stick with it.

If only I could resolve meeko's issue, then I would be happy

*Look around shiftily* Um, I don't even know what MYLJ page is.

Your posts show fine on my flist, no problem at all.

Your stories show in a different font, but then they always have done. I assume that's the font you use in Word and you just copy and paste into Semagic and post from there? That's what I do. And I've never had any problems.
