My town had our local Antique Steam and Gas Engine Show this weekend, which is an exceedingly lovely affair filled with happy purring motors (they're like cats, almost)---most of them belonged to tractors, which are limited in their ability to interest me, but there is however the steam aspect of it ( Read more... )

SDKFJSDLKF~~~~ I LOVE THIS. I used to hang around in the engine room at the county fair every year and I hated teh louder noises but I LOVED every minute of it. I loved the smell of the oil and machinery and just... KDSJFS. I don't think i've seen any of it in a good fifteen years, these bring back memories!

EEEEEEE!!!

I didn't think anybody else on my flist would actually be interested in this! *purrs at*

They are so gorgeous---I love especially the big powerful things, the Worthington and, there's this one that they're still trying to put together into working order, a Vilter-Corliss . . . um, ammonia refridgerator (?) with a 24-foot flywheel---it's massive and it's just sitting there behind the Worthington like a big metal dragon, waiting to start up again.

*beyond glee at the thought of being one of the people working it when it starts*

Steam is good! We're really close to the Dorset Steam Fair here in England, so it's cool!

The A is majorly into the Mamod traction engines and is actually building his own steam train!

I now have the odd image of a 2007/09 TF landing by such a fair and ending up with one of those engines as a disguise. He or she is refusing to change it because it's "classy."
