Vertical and Horizontal Music

Wow, cool stuff. I've been listening to Pandora for a while, and was also intrigued by the music characteristics they show you, but I didn't know they had a podcast that explained it all. That's being added to my iTunes list right now :) I didn't know all that about vertical vs. horizontal music; I am definitely one of those who tends to find house/trance boring, but maybe it will be more interesting now that I know how it's put together.

Oh, and I'm glad you had fun at the wedding! It was great to see you.

I'll have to check this out. I wonder what type of technology they are using to track and search for music characteristics.

Human technology. :-) They hire a bunch of music experts to listen to music and manually characterize the music.

They actually go on Pandora Tours to (among other things) collect local music (legally) that they wouldn't find otherwise. They had one in Durham a few months ago, but I didn't make it.
