CHAPTER 2
“Who are you?” Jaejoong asked as he pulled Junsu closer. He knew something was wrong with Junsu and he didn’t like it at all.
“You have no right to ask,” the man answered as he gave his order,” Devour them!”
The monsters roared and attacked at once. Jaejoong cursed as he pulled back, dragging Junsu. He shot his silver bullets to the monsters’ head but there’s no end of them.
“Junsu!” Jaejoong’s call was enough to wake Junsu up from his frozen stage. He took his composure as he kicked one of the blood suckers down. He hated to admit he was too scared to move.
Jaejoong was relieved to see Junsu was back. Yet, another horror caught him off guard. There’s black smoke coming from the village direction. The rain made it almost unrecognizable, but Jaejoong’s eyes were good enough to notice.
“Hyung, what’s wrong?” Junsu asked.
Before Jaejoong could answer, the monsters’ leader got in front of him and kicked him aside. Jaejoong barely could cover himself as he flied to crush nearby trees and choked blood.
“Hyung!” Junsu was surprised and he was burning with anger this time,” Damn you!!!”
Junsu launched an attack on the man but he was easily avoided. His wounded arm was pulled in his attack and he was thrown back on the ground. The man pushed him down till he couldn’t move. Junsu struggled but he couldn’t do a thing; the rain made his move even slipper.
“Junsu!” Jaejoong got up and was ready to pull his trigger.
“Are you sure?” the man asked,” I don’t think you can beat me crushing his skull with your silver bullet…”
Jaejoong cursed as Junsu kept struggling. Junsu hated how vulnerable and useless he was. The pain on his arm before from the arrow was making everything hard; it’s hard to move as he began to lose more blood.
“Now,” the man spoke,” I did send half of the troops to the village. I know you two will come here soon enough and today seems like a perfect day.”
Jaejoong tried to think of any way to save Junsu and stop the village attack but he could find none. Both had great risk and he had to choose one; he cursed again.
“Hyung…go save them,” Junsu said.
“…But---“
“I’ll be fine. I’m not that weak,” Junsu gave his usual reassuring smile but Jaejoong knew behind that smile something dark was hiding. Jaejoong didn’t want to leave Junsu but he had to. He had to trust Junsu like Junsu trusted him.
Jaejoong gave a heavy nod as he skipped back and rushed to the village. The other man seemed to be surprised by the choice; he laughed.
“See? That’s why I don’t get it why you work with a hunter,” the man said,” They’re all the same. They’ll always save themselves first!”
“…” Junsu didn’t answer. He took deep breath as he closed his eyes. He could feel his cloth drenched wet by the rain and it’s cold. Yet, it didn’t bother him; he used to the cold. He couldn’t feel the warmth he used to have anyway.
Unleashing the true monster inside of him, Junsu’s eyes turned pitch red as his fangs grew. He used his whole strength to push the man and threw him away. Yet, the man managed to avoid his attack; barely.
“Now, this’s a surprise,” the man spoke,” I never thought someone could really control the blood thirst…”
Junsu could feel he gained his strength back as his silver arrow wound closed up. He’s using dangerous method, he knew. Blood thirst was the stage where vampire used his whole full strength to attack or defend. It gave him tremendous power yet it came with a bitter price; he might lose himself in process and turned into blood sucker monster.
“…Why are you doing this?’ Junsu asked ,” Who are you and what do you want exactly?!”
“…Fair enough, you amazed me so I’ll let you know what I’m,” the man answered,” My name is Park Yoochun and I’m a pure blood.”
“…Pure blood?” Junsu never heard such thing.
“I’m one of the vampire origins. No one could defy me for ordering those monsters,” Yoochun said in absolute tone; once again making Junsu shivered in awkward way.
“See…Even you can feel I’m higher existence than yours…” Yoochun grinned.
“…But still…But still you’ve done something you shouldn’t do!” Junsu protested.
“Why are you mad at me? I’m simply giving guidance to them,” Yoochun spoke,” They’re mere animals and it’s nature law for the superior to lead them.”
“But you didn’t have to hurt the villager!”
“Hurt them?! No, no, no. I didn’t mean to hurt them,” Yoochun laughed,” I meant to kill them! Take what precious to them! Make them suffer and realize how ungrateful they’re!”
Junsu was lost at words. He couldn’t really fathom it but he felt like he somehow knew why the man felt like that. He used to feel that kind of feelings too.
“You’re the funny one here; working with a hunter,” Yoochun said,” Don’t you realize he’s our enemy?”
“Jaejoong hyung won’t hurt me. I trust him,” Junsu’s answer was absolute. Yoochun didn’t give any more comment; he just stared at Junsu coldly.
Junsu was ready to attack when Yoochun lifted his hand up. Yet, the monsters didn’t attack him. They just back off and stood still as Yoochun smirked and walked toward Junsu.
“You want to stop me right?” Yoochun grinned,” Let’s get started then…Be honored that I’ll personally dispose of you.”
Junsu took a deep breath. He was about to start the fight that he had no idea would change his life forever. He might be killed or turned into those blood suckers, or he might gain something he never imagined.
Meanwhile, Jaejoong was using his full speed to rush to the village. He had spot few blood suckers on his way and killed them. Yet, he knew more would be waiting for him in the village. He had to get there fast or else there wouldn’t be any human left.
Counting his silver bullet, he knew they’re not enough. He sighed and put the guns back on his pocket; they would be his last resort, for now he would use his other weapon.
He pulled a long box he always carried on his back. People would think it’s a mere antique box but deep inside, it hides two long silver twin blades. Jaejoong pulled them out as he reached the forest entrance.
Blood was spilled everywhere and he could see no one. That couldn’t be! He was too late.
“Watch out!” an old man’s voice woke Jaejoong up as he managed to avoid a blood sucker behind him. He thrust his blades to the creature; killing it. As the monster fell, he saw the old carpenter before, bleeding out on his arms.
“Are you okay?!” Jaejoong rushed to the old man,” Where’re the others?”
“The survivors are hiding in the barn,” the old man muttered harshly,” You should join them…It’s too late for me…I was bitten…”
“No---“ Jaejoong managed to catch the old man before he collapsed on the ground. Slowly, Jaejoong put the old man leaning on the wall and then used his blade to cut his finger. He let few drops of his blood fell into the old man’s mouth.
“This will do,” Jaejoong mumbled to himself as he turned around and face the monsters; they’re driven mad by thirst. They’re beyond help and there’s only one salvation Jaejoong could give them. His eyes flashed red for a second as he began his attack.
