I ADORE YOU.

this is perfect, and so sweet, and Gwendal's last line is the best thing ever. And it's brilliant the way the other characters come in and out even though this is essentially Yuuri and Wolfram's story. Wolfram is a jerk and a sap, and Yuuri is clueless and fervent, and oh this is all kinds of love.

Thank you... ^^ I'm so happy you liked it. *breathes a sigh of relief* Those two would *not* stay in character. I had to delete huge passages - it was for the good of humanity. ^^;

Off to one side, Gwendel just shook his head slowly. One more line appeared on his forehead and he muttered under his breath, "Sixteen."

As if that explained it all.
oh dear *fall over laughing

"Wolf," Yuuri sighed, draping his arm over the boy's shoulders. "If you have to ask..."
Wolfram blinked. "If you have to ask... what?"
Yuuri looked down. "You don't have that expression here?" Wolfram shook his head. "Oh. Well, it goes... if you have to ask..." He trailed off, suddenly distracted by those wide emerald eyes that looked up at him so expectantly. Ten kinds of love sang through his heart, and he smiled faintly, squeezing Wolfram's shoulders. "If you have to ask, it was great."

So wait.... is that really how that ends? I don't get it- we don't have that expression where I am either.

Ah, sorry about that ^^; It didn't occur to me that it might not be common.
I think it originated early in the century, when Duke Ellington (maybe? or Count Basie or someone) was asked to define jazz, he replied, "If you have to ask, you'll never know."

And then it was adopted as a general response to questions that the inquirer really should know the answer to... such as Wolfram's question ^^
