Has anyone heard of this company?

Hi,

I just bought season 2 on dvd from ebay. The set look legit but it is not the American Publishers - its a company called K004. A quick search has brought up no information on them - has anyone heard of this company or should I report a copyright violation?

I've never heard of them. There are plenty of bootleg companies who go through a lot of trouble to make their stuff look legit. I've even heard reports of them replicating those holographic "official product" stickers you see on legit releases. I've fallen for it in my early years.

If the set has both the English dub and the original Japanese audio then I would suspect it's a fake. I don't think the English version has been licensed in other countries outside of the United States (Geneon/Funimation) and Australia (Madman). If it's just Japanese audio with subtitles then I'm not sure. Is there any company or copyright info on the box? Usually on the back towards the bottom?

That was actually the first thing I looked for - The standard warnings are on the disk but there is no copyright date. I watched one disk and the episode was weird - the visuals were clearly not the Geneon version but the audio was - the end had Geneon information but there were no English translations on the splash screens. If I had to guess I would think it was from someplace like the Philipines or Hong Kong?

Hmm. Both are countries I'm not familiar with. Is it possible "K004" is the SKU number? The SKU number isn't the same as the UPC number. For example the SKU for Fullmetal Alchemist's Season 1 4-disc set is FN-08269 while the UPC is 704400082696. The SKU is usually on the side/spine.

Would you be able to share pictures of any logos or copyright or product info? What are the other languages on it? For the subs and such.

I'm pretty sure if it's a legit item from Hong Kong it's required to have one of those holographic stickers. Not sure about the Philippines though…

I'll try looking for more info at the same time based on what you've shared so far.
