I watched Avatar last night...

I rented Avatar last night. After watching the entire thing, I must say that I don't understand what all the hype is about.

Review under the cut. )

no one cares, rant, avatar, movie, pokemon

I agree with you about Avatar. I thought it was entertaining but not OMFG GREATEST EVAR.
Personally I think Zombieland > Avatar.

I not only hate that about sellers, but I also hate it when people jack up prices just because a Pokemon is popular.

I think I'm just bitter because I'll see something get a bid in one of those "boohoo I'm selling my collection" posts when I either:
-sold it for a third of that price, after months of advertising or
-bought it for a third of that price, and want to point and laugh at the high bidder

I'll admit to doing the last one, but considering that I price most figures at $.5-$2, the price isn't jacked up that much. Maybe by $1 on most figures?

I'm talking about making something significantly more than what most people sell it for.

The different tribes drove me up a fucking wall. the Na'Vi and an of themselves are... UH. kind of stupid (why do you have cute button noses when EVERYONE ELSE has to use giant breath apparatuses to breathe? EVEN THE MONSTERS?) but what made me the most angry is that... everyone was the same thing.

The creatures had SOME variety in colour (Natiri's flying thing was green, while Jake's was purple, the people in other tribes had different coloured ones too) but the Na'Vi are literally all the same fucking colour. There's *some* change in blues, but nothing even visible. Make one of them turquoise. Make one of them navy. Don't use the same royal blue for everyone. Ugh. (Not to mention the effect is ruined the closer you get to the Na'Vi...)

But yeah, I have to agree with you... plot was see-through, ending was so cliche and happy ending, I just... ugh. :(

Yeah, I didn't really like the Na'vi's design. Their noses freaked me out, to be honest. Now that you mention it, a giant breathing apparatus would have made more sense (and been more awesome).

A few of the Na'vi seemed to have more stripes than the others, but... Yeah, different colors would have been nice. Different customs and clothing and rituals would have been nicer.

Also, it never mentioned why they have glowing spots on their skin. I'm going to bet that whoever did the skin texture for the Na'vi thought "Screw it! I don't want to do this anymore" after finishing the first blue one. XD

The entire movie made me realize how much I love Princess Mononoke. That had a more realistic ending and much better characters.

I haven't seen Avatar so I can't comment, but I've heard what it's about and I have no interest. also loolololololo forever @ unobtainuim

BUT ZOMBIELAND IS AMAZING OMG I LOVE THAT MOVIE ;_____; it might have extra special meaning to me though that has little to do with the film and more to do with something else but lolollolol

Hahah actually I can kind of understand that. I know I'm considering doing collection weeding and it's like, you're hesitant to part with it but for the right price you would. So list it up and if no one pays it then w/e w/e. I MEAN THAT'S HOW I FEEL.... but i can see how it might be annoying to potential customers anyway. XD

You're not missing much, though you might enjoy a few of the monsters' designs. I thought the horses and the tigers(?) and the flying reptiles were cool. Plus everything has six legs.

I'm trying to convince my mom to watch it with me. She says she doesn't think she can sit through an entire movie about killing zombies.

I've done that ONCE, for a Pokemon Center Suicune plush. But I stated that I knew the starting price was kind of high. Everyone else I see advertises it as "Look at all the *RARE* stuff I have for offer. I paid $95 for this so I want at least $90", etc. Just because they're willing to pay $95 doesn't mean anyone else is. In fact, if they won it for $95, it means no one else was willing to pay that amount. XD

I liked Avatar because it was pretty, and I bought the artbook and stuff. Sort of like Halo, where I dun like the game, but I love the artwork.

I hated every character save for the Asian chick as well. They were all flat and undynamic, and I didn't feel sad for anyone except the young Na'vi because I hate seeing children suffer. The plot was waaaay too convenient, and it was essentially pochahontas. http://failblog.org/2010/01/10/avatar-plot-fail/ see here.

At most, it was visually pleasing, and I liked it mostly for the random creatures (explains why I bought a Thanator figure instead of anything else).

Zombieland definitely>Avatar.

I loved Zombieland, it's probably the best and most realistic zombie movie out there. 4 srs. :D

I didn't think it was that pretty. Did it look real? For the most part. But that doesn't mean it was pretty. There are things you can do with hand drawn animation and even standard filming that are next to impossible to accomplish with computer animation. Though maybe I'm being too harsh about this since I'm studying animation.

lol @ the failblog link. But Pocahontas (the Disney version) at least had humor and nice songs in it. Plus I actually cared about what happened to the characters. John Smith > Jake Sully, even if he was historically inaccurate.

I agree that the random creatures were neat. I want one of those flying reptiles.

I've never seen a zombie movie, so it will be an experience. XD

Like what everyone else has said, I haven't seen Avatar yet, but Zombieland was amaaaaazing. And hilarious, of course. Even if it's a bit bloody, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

If I remember, I'll get you my Pokemon FC tomorrow. But for now, I need to go sleep. XD
