Can I just complain about how dumb LJ's new post/edit page is? I am trying to update my sales post with new items and it's taking three times longer than normal.
Thank god I use HTML and I edit them outside of LJ on a text editor before transferring it over to LJ, especially for larger posts.
You could use an external program like Semagic (there are others, but I've heard Semagic is the best one) to post. I think there's a page somewhere in LJ's external apps or something for you to download it...
I'll probably have to start using HTML in an outside text editor and then transferring it over. I honestly wouldn't mind HTML, except that having to hit shift constantly for tags/quotes/etc makes my carpal tunnel flare up really fast. I guess I'll just have to pace myself. :/
Honestly, I think the only reason pkmncollectors (or any permernant sales pages hosted on LJ really) will move is if LJ completely goes down. It's actually not easy for a community as large as that to move, there's quite a lot of work involved, a lot of things to consider and then there is the problem of posts... It might be feasible if it was done in phases, but it's still a lot of things to consider as it's been on LJ since 2007 and that is a very long time >_o
I was under the impression that DW's "import" option worked for communities as well... but if it doesn't, that would explain a lot.
I know that Fandom!Secrets moved over to DW a while ago, but that was probably an easier move since they only had to deal with one post per day (and since no one cares if the older posts were moved over).
You should really resize your images before you upload them because if you resize them in HTML, you're only resizing the display size, not the file itself, so even if it shows up small on the screen people still have to load the whole large file, plus they don't display as nicely as if you resampled them properly.
Large images resized in HTML lag my computer because its a piece of old junk. I often have to skip people's posts in pkmncollectors because the images just lag like crap when I try to scroll past them. :\
Haha, yes, that experience is probably why I always resize images and hotlink to the seperate full res image in my sales. It's a kindness... Plus, trawling through my own sales post comments is a lot easier when /I/ don't have to refresh massive images constantly!
I'm seriously considering it, but I'm still not sure what to do about the sales hosted in my LJ journal. I know you can crosspost from DW to LJ, but if you edit that DW post, is there a way to make the LJ post edit automatically?
