I lost all of my Pokemon AGAIN?

Today has been a horrible day. I've been sick for half of the day, to the point where I had to cancel my fun plans, I have cramps, and painkillers are only kind of helping. And now I am having a hard time eating because my jaw is hurting whenever I open my mouth. Yeah, it's one of those days. To top it all off I discovered that all of my save data ( Read more... )

Aww, that sucks. It happened to me, too, with a bunch of my favorite Pokémon. I'm sorry to hear it. :(

The good news is that the batteries are pretty easy to replace once you get the cartridge open. I've done it several times. You'll need to pry the existing batteries from several soldered spots, but it can be done with a screwdriver and some patience. Make sure to get the right size replacement - it doesn't have to be exactly the same as the one in there now as long as it's still small enough for you to be able to put the whole thing back together properly. Oh, and you'll want some electrical tape most likely. In short, it's pretty hard to fuck it up.

Good luck with your sales!

Thanks. I found a website that tells exactly what type of battery I need, so hopefully I won't screw that part up. Thankfully we have plenty of electrical tape around here, since we have several electricians in the family.

OH MY GOSH YES I KNOW THIS PAIN.

My BAMF team is forever gone because I can't save anymore. D: I've been thinking about buying the new Gold/Silver to replace it...

If you need a cheaper option, there's an easy way to replace the battery in your old Gold/Silver games... but the replacement battery is also going to die eventually. For a long term fix, buying Heart Gold or Soul Silver is probably the best solution.

Ahh my original Gold did the same thing. I was so devastated. It was my first game that I actually played by myself and I had over 600 hours logged and all the pokemon ahahaha and then one day I turned it on and it said corrupted data.
I cried for like 3 days, lol.

Yeah, I had 350 hours logged on Crystal, and who knows how many on Gold and Silver. I restarted those two so many times.

I cried off and on for a day the first time I lost my Pokemon. This time I just ranted about it for half the night to my mother, who is probably sick of my complaining. XD

The death of a 2nd gen game is a loss most of us have gone through at some point I think. I never moved my Red/Blue pokes over though, sorry you lost those too. :( Why game freak decided to trade keeping your pokemon forever for time based features still baffles me.

My first thought was that maybe they didn't realize that would happen, but surely they would at least consider the possibility. I never realized something like that could happen until I started seeing people on the Serebii forums mention it.

Maybe they didn't think anyone would care about their Pokemon after 7 or 10 years or however long it took most of the batteries to die?

I guess the good news is that it's gotten me back into the Pokemon games. I've been playing through Blue again on a whim. I had forgotten how fun gen 1 was. (Especially now that I know about the Mew glitch. I don't care if it's "cheating". I deserve a Mew after losing 2 official Nintendo ones.) I wish I could play GSC again as well, but that will have to wait until I can buy a replacement battery. I hadn't realized how much I missed the original GSC games until I couldn't play them anymore. ;__;

If you have access to a Stadium or Stadium 2 game, I would recommend transferring all your Crystal Pokemon over sooner rather than later.

Btw, how/why do you have so many Dragonites? Could you clone Pokemon on Crystal?
