WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT, DISNEY?

Sep 24, 2011 20:33

I'm not really a doll person. Sure, there are a few Barbies that I wouldn't mind owning, but I wouldn't spend more than $15-$20 on them.

Then I heard about the Disney designer dolls that are getting released and saw Tiana.

Yeah, October is going to be bonkers :|

I already have my game plan and the information I need for Jasmine. You kind of have to at this point because those two days are not going to be nice, especially if someone misses the dolls at the store the day before and have to go online at the "time to be specified later".

Yeah, I have enough other things going on in October. I do not need this to add to the stress. I'd almost prefer that they left it as-is, even with the old "two per person" limit.

The information you need? I admit that I'm a bit nervous since I've never done this before. I'm still crossing my fingers that my Disney Store experience won't be disastrous, since I live in the middle of nowhere (retail wise). But then I remember the ridiculous Black Friday lines...

What I don't understand is this: how will Disney know whether or not someone has purchased a doll in-store? The website claims that only people who didn't get a doll can order one online, but I don't see how they can enforce that.

Yeah, I thought I'd be ok with the one per limit, but now I'm seeing how many parents are having to scramble to buy two for their daughters. It's giving time for people to figure out what they're going to do, but it sucks.

Yeah, online information as I don't have a store to purchase from, save for the time as they haven't released that. Honestly, there probably will be a line. You wanna be 10th in line and up no matter what because that means you're guaranteed to get what you want now with the limit.

They won't XD

I'm an only child so I didn't even think of that. That would be suck if you had two daughters who both wanted a doll.

I plan to get to the mall when it opens. I just hope that people aren't lined up outside the mall. Making a mad dash to the Disney Store is not my idea of fun, and I refuse to sleep outside in the middle of October no matter what the reason is.

I have this horrible fear that I will be 10th in line, and then some guy will cut in front of me with a "this lady is my wife and I was parking the car for her" explanation. There would be nothing I could do about it, since I'm sure to lose a fight against any male my age or older.

Who are the five remaining dolls?

After reading Ka-chan's entires about these dolls I went looking for them and will admit I really like them even though I am not a doll person either. The one I want is Mulan, but she already was released since she's up on eBay selling for about 250+ ;_;

When the time comes for Tiana's release I wish you the best of luck! <3 There are no Disney Stores around me so if I want one I have to resort to online.

Jasmine, Tiana, Pocahontas, Rapunzel, and Aurora (aka, Sleeping Beauty; her name is Aurora, right?)

Yeah, I didn't know about Mulan until after she was released. I love her as a character, but thankfully, I like her Barbie doll more than her designer doll.

I'm going to try for Tiana for myself and Jasmine for Ka-chan. Good luck to you too, if you do decide to try for one.

I'm glad that I'll only have to leave at 7 am, at the earliest. Still, it will be insane. At first I thought that Tiana's release would not be quite as crazy (since so many people seemed to hate PatF), but now that they're all getting released at the same time, I can kiss that thought goodbye.

I guess the one good thing is that you have to be an adult to buy one? I'm taking a form of ID to prove that I'm over 17, because I can just see the employees refusing to sell to a "kid" like me.

GOOD LUCK! I will try to get a Jasmine for you if I manage to get near the front of the line. Lmk whether your quest was successful or not when you get back. If not, I can start stalking Disney's online store. Stalking sites is the one thing I'm really good at thanks to the crazy Neopets players. (I refreshed for almost 5 HOURS to get a Neopets name last semester. There is something wrong with me.)

The Rapunzel doll is pretty, but doesn't really look like Rapunzel to me. (I think it might be because she had giant eyes in the movie?)

I don't know whether I'll have any luck at my local Disney Store or not. If they do have Rapunzel when I get to the front of the line, do you want me to grab one for you? I have no idea what shipping to Canada would be like though.

Yeah, my guess is that shipping would be at least $10. Just let me know if you change your mind.

I believe they are released in stores on October 17 and released online on October 18.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was spazzing out because of Tiana, but I probably won't be able to get her anyways. lol. I really wanted Mulan, but to late for that.

But I really hope that you are able to get her! Hopefully it won't be too crazy. x_x

Tiana is the best! I just wish the movie had come out ten years earlier. She would have been an excellent role model for my younger self. (Actually, she was a pretty good role model for 20-year-old me too.)

I like Mulan even though she isn't technically a princess, but thankfully I like her cheaper dolls more than the design doll. I think it's because of her hairstyle.

Good luck! Something tells me that we're both going to need it...
