WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME, NINTENDO?!

Aug 08, 2011 00:55

I told myself I wouldn't buy a 3DS until at least two of these things occurred:
1. A significant price drop
2. Five games that I want get released in the US
3. A special edition console (preferably Pokemon/Zelda) gets released

Lalala, and then this happened. )

rambling, fangirling, this post is too long, zelda, advice needed

i just bought my 3DS so i can get the 20 free games they give to people who buy it before the big price drop. then i'm using Best Buy buyer protection to get the extra money i spent back. :D

That's the reason I started looking into the 3DS, but I'm going to wait until after the price drop. I only want 1-2 of the free games. It would be cheaper for me to just buy those games separately.

Wait, Best Buy buyer protection? Isn't that where they refund you if there's a price drop. Does that work for previously announced price drops?

as long as you go back within 30 days of the actual price change, they will refund you plus 10% more or something

I've had an 80GB ipod classic for about five or something years-- I had the first one for two years and the second one for three (I was careless with the first one and it didn't have a hard case so it kind of broke)
The second one is lasting a while though, and I've never had the battery die on me in the entire time Ive had it. Granted, I think they cost about $200-250, but it's worth the investment.
It's simple, but it gets the job done.

Also, can you not play 3DS games on a regular DS?
MERM USED OUTRAGE
IT'S NOT VERY EFFECTIVE

Ah, you have a Classic. So, the million dollar question: does it constantly rotate like an external hard drive when you turn it on? Because that would kind of suck since you'd (presumably) have to keep it flat.

I've taken great care of my Nano, but there's not much I can do about it running out of storage space.

NO, YOU CANNOT.
EVEN MORE RAGE: THE 3DS CAN'T PLAY GBA GAMES.

To answer your question, yes it constantly rotates like a HD, but it rotates at such a speed it doesn't need to be level, and with sensors, it adjusts it's spin level. Case in point, my classic? Get's jogged, danced and jiggled on a day to day basis for over three years and nary a failure.

It's been run over by a car. Okay so it had a case on it, but still.

My point is made.

It's hard to break.

I'm grabbing a 3DS after the price drop. It's just....NICE.

Exactly what I needed to know! Thanks. (How did you manage to run over it with a car?)

I am probably going to buy one after the price drop, unless my Nano runs out of storage space first. I'm dying to play the new Zelda, but I listen to music so often that having a portable music player takes priority over almost everything else.

I'm holding out on the 3DS for these reasons.

~Year before last I just got a freaking DSi when my brick started to fail me.
~Waiting for the next Pokemon game to come out.
~Waiting for other colors to come out.

Since the price drop has already happened (Which was pretty fast btw 0_o) my deciding factor will be if the next Pokemon game gets released and it'll probably be Gen 6 or me. I don't care if Grey gets released on it since I already have Black. XD But I REALLY don't want one cause I get dizzy looking at it for like 5 seconds, then my head starts to hurt. >_ummm my mom has an Ipod classic. Its nice, although I don't really understand what you mean by moving parts. X3 She loves it and I think its nice too (since I'm always putting music on it for her XD). She plays it for long periods of time and I've never heard her say anything about it getting hot. And its a pain in the ass trying to find acessories for it. They either cost too much of are in NO stores at all. Not even Apple carries anything for Classics anymore. The best ( ... )

You're going to be waiting a while on the next Pokemon game... I was originally planning to wait for other colors, but I like the black and blue better than any others that have been announced.

You can turn off the 3D. I played with the 3D completely off. The graphics really are great for a handheld system.

Some external hard drives have moving parts (specifically a rotating disc) inside of them. If the Classic doubles as a hard drive, I was wondering if it also had the rotating disc inside of it. Because these parts are mechanical, they're more likely to break if you drop the iPod, etc. (And I've heard that you're supposed to keep the hard drive on a flat surface while the disc is rotating.)

The only thing I'd need is a case so it doesn't get scratched up. I don't use any other accessories.

I have a 120GB iPod Classic.

I used to have a reallllly old one, but the battery was almost dead-dead (as in, battery life used to be good but turned to crap) within a year. Used the warranty to get a different iPod, same gen, and I'm fairly certain it glitched up/died after I loaded a MIDI file on it.

My current iPod's lasted me about two years now and still has decent battery life. It has more memory than I know what to do with, since I only use it for music.

It doesn't get anywhere near as hot as my computer does; I've listened to my iPod for hours on end, and it will only be slightly warm to the touch. I don't know about having it upright, but I'll stick it in my robe's pocket and it does just fine. I've definitely dropped mine a few times and got it wet too, and it's still working. I do have a leather case for it; but that's mostly to stop the screen from scratching.

So despite my first two having rather short lives, I'm pretty happy with my current iPod.

My Nano is on its 3rd year now, and it's still running perfectly. I'd keep the Nano except I am out of space for songs.

I can't see myself needing more than 16 GB of memory anytime soon. Of course, that's also what I said with 8 GB...

Useful information. Thanks for the response.

haha I'm the EXACT same :B I didn't want a 3DS until similar points, but it's slowly winning me over with the 3D pokedex and Ocarina >_>; plus there's several games I want coming out for it, so I may as well buck it up and buy.

Can't help ya with the ipod problem. I need a new one myself. I have the second gen shuffle and the first gen nano I got as a gift. The nano's hold button has broken so that it is constantly on hold and useless to me. Just after I bought it a nice case, too ;; I'm looking to buy an older one cheap. I want a touch, but I can't get a 3DS and a touch at the moment. As a gamer, games will always win XD

I forgot to try the 3D Pokedex, actually. My friend says it's cute but not very useful. Most of the games I want come out next year, if they've even been announced for a North American release.

I used to own a shuffle, but the fact that I couldn't choose which song I wanted to hear made me rage. I bought a Nano a few years ago thinking it would last me 5 or 6 years... After 3, I've already hit my limit on the number of songs it can hold. But it's in really good condition other than that. The only issue is some surface scratches on the back.
