so on friday i became consumed with the idea that the reason that my latest videomaker article is like three weeks overdue is because i don't have a Delta Dolcevita to write it with, so I went down town to look at them at Holts. It really is jaw-droppingly beautiful (the medium sized fountain pen if you want to google it).... Met Trillian after ( Read more... )

Heck, if it was $180 I would have bought two.

the best actual writer I have is a Parker 101 -- really really beautiful smooth nib, but the pen's a little small for my tastes. I think the Montblanc 149 (le grand) size is about perfect. I have a Conklin (new one) that's a really nice size and weight. It was on sale for like $60 at the fountain pen hospital and I haven't ever regretted it.

I also have a nice vintage Shaeffer I got for $10 and fixed up, but it's got some feed problem and every once in a while it lays an egg of ink on the page....

Dang. Pen show, January. I can hardly wait.

My favorite fountain pen is a rather small Waterman--repro of an Edwardian ladies pen. But I have small hands, so for me it's quite comfortable.

Great dress, and Trillian (as always) looks swell in it.

You do have a terrific life, and I for one, am very happy to see someone for whom life is going so very well.

How are the foster cats doing?

i have a Waterman "Expert" which is really nice. the cap doesn't screw on though, so it wiggles around a lot which bugs me, but the shape is really beautiful. it feels nice and writes well. though, now that i think of it, one of it's advantages is that there aren't threads cutting into your fingers when you write.....

ooh, foster cats ... momcat3 is turning into a love bug. she loves to be petted. i picked her up tonight, she wasn't very pleased with that, but she may turn into a lap cat after all. the keh-tenz are adorable. their older brother or sister is very very shy, but watches me through the window.

My feral rescue, Muadib, is the lap-lovingest cat on earth.
Glad to hear that Momcat and kittens are settling in so well.

We are not introduced, but if I might be so bold, you don’t impress me as someone who had it all handed to you. You really seem to appreciate not only what you have, but what you have learned while achieving what you have. You share your talents and your life with people and other living things (Rosewell, Bing, and the other foster kitties) like a person who knows how special it is to be able to do that. I think it is great. Your blog is fun too.

As for writing implements - Colibri tortoise shell (bought about 30 years ago), many Bics, and a lots of ink from Microsoft. Still, I will drool over a nice fountain pen. One day, when I find the right one for me…
