The 2007 MEDIAN household income in the U.S. was $50,233. Now, since median means half of the households are above and half are below, and the fact that half are making $0 to $50,000 and half are making $50,000 to $1 Gazillion, I guess it would be possible for the average to be skewed up to $120,000 when all those gazillionaires are added in.

I've been unemployed since April. I made $15,000 last year. Half of that was from unemployment.

OT - in friending you just now I saw that you have Terry Pratchett on your interests list. I told my husband and now you've been elevated to "why aren't we hanging out with her all the time?" status. :D
