[Katara isn't.. entirely sure how to respond to that, so she'll just move along.]

[Sokka is waiting outside the row houses, perched on the steps of #4 while he waits for his sister to show herself. Somehow, a text or a voice or video message just doesn't feel appropriate. He hadn't know this was coming, and while he's been blindsided like everyone else, the Avatar's withdrawl since his return from death makes Sokka feel almost relieved for his best friend. Now Aang can move on, at least.]

[As he sits on the steps, he tugs at a small tuft of Appa's fur, a sad reminder of how much more there is to miss than just the Avatar. This really is how it goes, isn't it? Too little time to love before it's all taken away.]

[Katara has a dull knife in her hand when she steps out of the house, pulling the door shut behind her -- and the sight of Sokka on the steps nearly makes her yell. She hadn't been expecting to find him there, and once the initial, slightly embarrassing shock wears off, she relaxes and steps down, dropping her free hand to rest on top of his head.]

Get up, come on.

[He follows her command, standing beside his sister, head bowed. Sokka's unaware of the knife, but he can hear something in her voice that tells him his place is there with her. He's tired. He's starting to get it Katara, he really is. Everything you've said is starting to really make sense.]

[She winds her arm around his, leading him down the stairs and the street. There's no mention of the knife, not yet.]

I'm kind of jealous, you know? The war's over, we're all safe and happy - he gets to go back to that.

I know it's selfish, but I'm glad that when he goes home? He'll remember me again.
