Title: I Fought the Law

Summary: Joker's worried about expenses.
Word Count: 243 words
I suppose I'm a bit obsessive about keeping up with my expenses. It takes quite a bit of my budget to maintain my costume and gadgets. My tailor doesn't work cheap. And do you know how hard it is to get good quality high voltage joy buzzers made these days? Or Joker Gas? I have to order the components over the internet from people that are less reputable than me.
Which leads to my current situation -- stuck inside the First National Bank of Gotham surrounded by Commissioner Gordon's men. Batman didn't even bother to show up for this robbery.
Have I slipped from the number one slot on the Bat's Rogues Gallery? Time was, all I had to do was show up and threaten an old lady on the street and the Bat would put in an appearance. Today, I rob the biggest bank in Gotham and he doesn't take time out of his busy schedule to give me a call? Drop by see how I doing? Do lunch? No, he's too busy helping that big, blue Boy Scout and his league of do-gooders battle Luthor and Brainiac these days.
I'm crushed.
Well, I have to make ends meet. Maybe I'll just waste a few of Gotham's finest to get my kicks if Batman won't come out and play.
"Joker! We have all the exits sealed and we've evacuated all personnel from the building."
There's the police chief. Time to go to work.
