KYOGEN & Lov- LeCinq No. 9

I've been meaning to do this for a looooooong time now. The post is long, but there is a cut somewhere, if you read look carefully. It's probably one of those posts that take hours to prepare and no one cares. Oh well. I want to do this. I need to do this ( Read more... )

Ah no, it seems you don't have it. It's 98% "Akanesasu Murasakino Hana / Ma Belle Etoile" (very beautiful O-Hana) one half page buyoukai and one halfpage kyogen recital, 6 pages "Somewhere in Time" and 2 pages Wataru shinko "Ken to Koi to Niji to".
I can send you that half page.

And I should have known you'd ask. I've added that information to the TakaWiki about a year ago or so, when I researched the Kyogen no Kai. Right now I cannot find the source anymore, but I'll keep looking.

ETA: Found it. It was the title that made me assume there's something noh-related in it:
"1990年11月10、11日『松本悠里能楽撰』(宝塚バウホール)”

Well, apparently Dojoji is a famous noh play. ;)

Ah, Kyogen! I saw the head of the Shigeyama family perform in Kyoto while I was there, he was really good (I think the piece was 'the plum hut'?). The same performance had 'sword stealing', one about three servants who pretend to be disabled so that a lord will hire them and one about two servants whose master ties them up to keep them from drinking his sake while he's out. They were all a *lot* of fun.
I also got to meet one of the sons of the family, Shigeyama Douji, who speaks flawless English and is rather attractive...also very talented and funny. He taught us how to act like surprised chickens!
Sigh. I want to go back!

(These two?)

That is soooo-... I'm jealous. :P

Well, I guess it's wonderful. It sounds wonderful. I would love to see a kyogen live. (And of course I would DIE to see Mami in one. :P)

Hmm, the main guy that I saw was performing for his 88th birthday, maybe he's not performing much anymore? And Shigeyama Douji appears to be one of the younger brothers, so it's possible he's not famous enough to warrant an entry on the family's main page.
It was a lot of fun though, and I *really* wish I could see more Takarazuka Kyogen. The 'Hanaori' from Sakura was hilarious.

This post is SO COOL.

I want to know more. They can't still be teaching kyougen, but I wonder when they stopped? And if there are any recordings anywhere? Want to seeeee...

:D

Well *points above* apparently there has been a kyogen-like part in "Sakura", which is on DVD. (I haven't had the chance yet to see it.)

There has been an interview with Shigeyama-sensei on SkyStage in April 2004 that might have revealed some information (and some clips). (I suspect them to have recordings of everything, and it's just the quality that makes the difference.)
