I was so nervous about posting this - omg. Loving Goth-culture is something (it seems) everyone looks down on... it's sometimes easier for me to be a willfully-squeefully-fangirl than "come out" as a baby-Goth
I'm really fascinated by the way you describe people who are having such fun despite their social awkwardness... you almost make it sound like in this situation it's a feature, not a bug
The main reason for this post is THIS. Socially-awkward people generally are so super INTERESTING and hold back out of fear of judgement or lack-of-interest/confusion. In a space where everyone is awkward in the same ways and accepting of general squee and emotions - the result is just LOVELY. I wish I could take you with me next year! Or to any Goth-event ever. It's all, always lovely.
