I have not yet made a Korean Drama rec post. Not because they aren't wonderful, or that I haven't been watching lovely shows... more because penny_lane_42's posts are so incredible - and where I find most of my new shows, anyway. But a few months ago (now) I watchedYou're Beautiful and it was more than just a great K!drama. It was an answer to a conversation ( Read more... )

Okay, this is a brilliant post. You focused on all these things I'm interested in--found families, the pop industry, etc. I'm definitely going to be checking this one out!

Jang Keun Suk seems to always get cast as a jerky boy whose parents don't love him! Poor baby!

Tae Kyung is usually cranky, grouchy, and just damned bratty. Therefore! She falls in love with him pretty quickly.

Oh, but of course. It's dramaland, after all, and those are the rules! Male Lead must be a total jerk and female lead must absolutely fall in love with him because of this! She couldn't possibly ever fall in love with a sweetheart who's good to her!

I love this post!

*blushes* I love this drama so hard.

I just love this, too!!! So many Kdramas focus so much on bio-families that it was really neat to have such a large "found-families" bias, working together with the ideal of the pop industry. PLUS! The fangirls are a constant presence! And the amount of fanfic in this series is just... /sigh

She couldn't possibly ever fall in love with a sweetheart who's good to her!I was rooting for Shin Woo the ENTIRE time - generally I see the attraction to the jerky-Male lead by at least the fourth or fifth episode. Not with this one, Tae Kyung never really won me over as the right match for Mi Nyu. But there was this whole "my mother was in love with your father" karma-stuff connecting them. And also the "we bond because we are both technically orphans" bit as well. Poor Shin Woo isn't emotionally scarred and has a good home-life. He just can't win under the circumstances ( ... )
