I've just spent the past two hours reading up on the Filibuster and Prop 8. Wow, just, WOW. That is absolutely fantastic. But seriously though, watching Wendy Davis, that woman is phenomenal. I cannot think of a SINGLE POLITICIAN in this country who would do the same, or even 1/10th of that, not even kidding.
YES!!!! OMG THAT FILIBUSTER. I WATCHED THE LIVESTREAM FOR 6.5 HOURS YESTERDAY, IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL AND THEN WHEN EVERYONE YELLED UNTIL MIDNIGHT. AND ALL THE OTHER SENATORS WHO JUST STARTED ASKING QUESTIONS ABOUT PROCEDURE, AND MAKING APPEALS AND STALLING. EVERYTHING WAS SO BEAUTIFUL WENDY DAVIS IS SUCH A BADASS OH MY GOD. AND DID YOU HEAR WHAT JUDITH ZAFFIRINI SAID WHEN THEY WERE GETTING READY TO VOTE ON THE BACK BRACE THING? BECAUSE SHE CLOSED HER ARGUMENT BY SAYING THAT THE RULE SHOULDN'T EVEN APPLY TO DAVIS BECAUSE THE LITERAL WORDING OF THE RULE IS SOMETHING LIKE "HE CANNOT LEAN ON HIS DESK " AND SENATOR DAVIS IS NOT A HE. CAN WE JUST TALK ABOUT HOW MANY TIMES THE MISOGYNY IN OUR SOCIETY AND GOVERNMENT GOT CALLED OUT YESTERDAY? AND HOW THE REPUBLICANS TRIED TO SAY THAT THEY WERE IN THEIR RIGHT TO VOTE AND PASS THE BILL, BUT WE THE FUCKING PEOPLE REFUSED TO LET THAT FLY AND THEY HAD TO TAKE IT BACK? AND HOW THE ONE-WOMAN FILIBUSTER CAME WITHIN 2 HOURS OF SUCCEEDING AND THEN WHEN THEY TRIED TO KNOCK HER DOWN AND ENDED THE FILIBUSTER

I NEED TO HAVE MORE TIME IN MY LIFE! I CANNOT WITH HOW MUCH THIS WHOLE THING WAS THE MOST GORGEOUS THING IN THE WORLD.
And, I think for me, it went even beyond the amazing things it said for and about women. Yes. This.
And I have a lot of feelings about politics, can you tellI grew up in predominantly blue states, in childhood homes that were violently Conservative. To the point that for many childhood years I believed "Feminist" was literally a bad word - the most horrific name you could call a woman. So I didn't become interested or involved in politics until college. And it's really *difficult* to find people who are as passionate as I am - so a lot of my close friends don't know how much I follow and care about politics. Even on a global scale
