Movie Season

I watched the new Star Trek trailer today. Pah. It looked cool, but I couldn't get over the thought of how horrible it's going to be. As in, how horrible I've imagined it's going to be. So, I don't see me giving it a real chance ( Read more... )

I'm still trying to get over the idea that they would build a Constitution-class starship, which is pretty Goddamn big, ON EARTH. The guy justifying it tried to give some measure of bullshit about needing to balance the warp nacelles in a gravity well -- for some reason, I totally can't fathom how that would make sense, given that the San Francisco Fleet Yards are in geosync orbit above Earth and it would require a whole lot less energy and resources to build a starship, you know, in SPACE WHERE IT BELONGS!

It's like building a sailing ship on top of a mountain range, and then carting it down to the sea via mule-and-slave labor. It just makes no sense.

LMAO!! Did you tell this guy that? Because it sounds like you've got him against a wall. LOL!

I think you're right, though I have to admit that I had such a poor copy to watch that I wasn't sure whether it was being built in space or a big warehouse. :O

No, he's heard it from quite a few other people too, hence his statements as to *why*. That doesn't make it any less bullshit, just now it's that stupid kind of bullshit where the person might know they're full of it to their ears but can't possibly admit to it.

I went to the video store for Indiana Jones, and they were all checked out. And then I was ashamed of myself for not having any of the Indy movies on DVD or VHS. What kind of movie collector am I?

Also, did you see Lego Indiana Jones? If it's half as amusing as Lego Star Wars, then it's going to be an absolute blast.

As for games, I just started Kingdom Hearts 2. Borrowed it off of my nephew. Figured I needed to finally see what the hubbub was about.

Started watching Death Note, too. It really figures that I'd end up watching a show that's so far out there. I guess, since the WGA isn't settling yet, I'd better start appreciating the older stuff. XD

I have the big Indy movie set from a couple of years ago, but I haven't looked into the release of the TV series. It's way too much money to buy in Canada. $100 a set, 3 sets. OUCH.

The Lego sets are completely ADORABLE! I want a Lego Marcus!

From what I heard, Kingdom Hearts 2 isn't worth the effort. Apparently it becomes waaaaay too wrapped up in itself. Roxas drove me insane and I couldn't stand playing through the start of the game, so I never finished it.

Death Note is... uh... if I say anything, I'll spoil it, but I couldn't get into the storyline at the point I had some interest due to some plot twists, if that makes any sense. I've been put off by most modern "dark and brooding" series, with Higurashi being the only one I've been able to handle. Even then, I'm not as fond of the more violent first half, since the second half gives complex reasons for the distrust and body count and feels a lot less exploitative.

Is it just me or is anime really sucking right now? o_O

I would like to see Prince Caspian, also. However, perhaps not in the theater.

I have to see The Dark Knight, Ironman, Indiana Jones 4, and Harry Potter. Those will likely need to be in the theater, too.
