These are my first fills for the latest round of Ask the Maker at icon_talk. More tutorials will follow as soon as I can feel my fingertips again. Please point out any broken links or if my explanations are incomprehensible.

I had quite a few restarts because I got the steps mixed up or upload the examples in the wrong order.

Eventually I just opened the psd, made a new file, dragged layer after layer to the new canvas and wrote up what I was doing. I also made a copy + merge example after every step and put it where it belonged within the tut so I didn't mix them again.

Actually, thank you, for asking what I do to make soft colorings. It let me examine the process much closer than I do when I just make icons and as a result I understand it better now myself.

It's just that I have always wanted to know how to make soft coloring like the one in your icons, so I found the courage and I asked :P

I just love the coloring on The Notebook icon. And the last icon - the original cap had dull colors and you did a great job of making it pretty

Yeah, the colors in that spn cap didn't intrigue me at all. If it hadn't been for the dynamic I would have completely overlooked it.
