research page - though it's still not finished. Sorry it took so long! I've also made some progress with the gown itself: I sewed the beaded bodice parts together. All the seams are backed with black plain weave tape to prevent stretching. Now I'm contemplating whether I should interface

And detailed as it might be, my research is just research, all based on photos and second hand information. I'm afraid we're never going to know all the secrets of the gown and what differences there may be between different versions. Though I still hope I'm going to see the gown in person one day! (even a few nice hi-res photos would be helpful, ha ha)

The front closure works really great - I wouldn't want a back closure I don't think - with the train it would be a pain.
Yes, but I think your observations are really good even if we can't verify all of them! You have a good eye for detail! I wish we had hi-res exhibit pics too! Maybe someday! And then we will have to redo our costumes because we will know how wrong they are! ;-)
