Yuletide Recs etc

Dec 28, 2009 00:29

I am feeling dreadful and have spend the last two days in bed, drinking copious amounts of herbal tea and reading when I can, napping otherwise. Prior to that, Christmas was good.

The new Discworld was one of my presents and so I spend a while reading that. It was awesome. ( brief not-really-spoilers to Unseen Academicals )

tv: daria, terry pratchett, tv: generation kill, yuletide, neil gaiman, books, tv: glee, recs

Sorry to hear you're not feeling good :( I hope you feel better soon!

I keep getting the feeling I should read Discworld, but I've never gotten into it before and at this point I feel like it'd take me a long, long time to catch up...

Thanks, being ill during the holidays sucks, but at least I have a lot of things to entertain myself with.

You absolutely must read Discworld! There is no need to catch up with them all, (though if you start reading, you might want to!) despite the shared world they are self contained and really, very brilliant.

Glad to hear you're keeping yourself entertained :) I only managed to read through 2 fics this christmas (although one is very long) But you seem to be racing through them!

Which of the Discworld books do you recommend me starting off with? I might give it a god before I have to go back to work next week :)

Hee,I want to read as many as I can, while the authors are still anonymous! :D

Hm, I am not sure to be honest, if you don't plan on starting with the first one, then you should probably at least start with the first book about a recurring character/s, though even that is not necessary. I love the ones about the city watch best, and Night Watch is one of my most favourite.

Thanks! :D

Aren't they hilarious? I am being very slow though, still so much to read. With yuletide, I always feel like I should read everything I am familiar with, even if I am not all that interested in it...
