A side note

I just read the posts about the bomb squad or whatever. To be honest, I don't quite understand what happened from your descriptions (it sounds pretty crazy), but it reminds me of just how damn noisy it gets in Boston in general. It's so nice not to hear sirens every two minutes -- I think I have seen two or three ambulances since I got here. The ( Read more... )

Well, the summary I can give you of what happened is this: People started finding mysterious electronic devices around the city in odd locations (attached under the BU Bridge, in squares and intersections), and they alerted the bomb squads. They determined that they weren't explosive devices, but they were still on alert and even blew one up to be safe. They stopped traffic for a while around those areas, closed off boat traffic on the Charles, and even stopped T service between two stops on the Red Line for about 15 minutes (which I'm sure no one noticed).

I'm not exactly sure when someone stopped to think, but somewhere along the line Turner Broadcasting stepped forward to claim responsibility for these devices, which turned out to basically be Lite-Brite-esque signs of the Mooninites from Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Then everyone was either upset or amused, because Boston became a laughing stock quite literally overnight. So, you missed a little excitement, but it's just stupid really. If people in Kyoto haven't heard about it ( ... )

That's unbelievable; I bet you feel like your in safe hands now. Neither terrorists nor the Mooninites can overcome the US government. And no, I doubt anybody noticed the T's delay. It's so nice to ride trains that come when they say they will!

I usually can't understand. It's always a happy, chipper woman's voice. The ambulances are asking cars to get out of the way, I think, and other trucks are blaring advertisements. Also, there is an election coming up, so of the trucks are related to that, I think. I also see political candidates standing on random street corners giving speeches with microphones and speakers.
