"people matter. nothing else does really" That's because your in love my dear. When you have no one to love, and look at yourself, 'do i love this person?' you realise why humans need other humans for..to mirror ones own flaws. maybe...

can u elaborate on this rcoops? i am curious about what you are saying/ experiencing in this comment.. as a buddhist or non buddhist or human or whatever..
also i find it interesting about this quote because there is also the view that our mind is what matters most and that the people around us will dissapear but the mind that creates them won't .. anyway.. blah blah but if you have any thoughts about this idea in relation to the statements chris made that would be most interesting for me.

Ohhh! I thought something so random would get challenged. It's a personal statement I guess...as im working at the moment with solitude and have been for a year. Recently I have 'personally understood' (not to mean that it's true) humans are sometimes needy when it comes to other human relationships. Almost like an emotional scapegoat, we need a reflective tool for our own emotional state. Mind is a very reflective tool and when one is in love, the world has a rosey glow, when we are not in love, we can spend more time looking inward at things that need working on. As all dharma says, 'we need to love ourselves before we can love others' (re pure compassion), and again 'personally speaking', i realise now that human relationships can be a barrier when trying to acheive this. Impossible to type such things, apologies if this has caused any offence. Only Geshe Kelsang has the answers...
