[Recipe] Simply Salsa.

Last night after a mediocre day, I was in the mood for comfort food. I already had some tortilla chips, but was lacking salsa to go with it. Not wanting to spend more money at the grocery when I had plenty of ingredients here, I chose to make a recipe from my Emeril's Potluck cookbook (page 6) -- slightly modified, for a little extra zing.

Simply Salsa )

ingredients: cilantro, ingredients: jalapeno pepper, ingredients: tomatoes, recipes: salsa, recipes: comfort food, ingredients: onions, emeril, recipes: sauce, cooking, ingredients: lime juice, recipes: vegetarian

This looks good! I'd omit the bell pepper and go a little easier on the cilantro, but that's just my personal taste. A bit of Tabasco might have done more to boost your spiciness than the ground peppers, since it's already in liquid form.

Hmmm, good point. I like to try making stuff from scratch, though, and Tabasco comes in such tiny bottles by default I can practically see myself shaking, shaking, shaking the entire bottle in just to get something near the level of spiciness I'd like in a salsa. *grin* And really, at that point, you're spending enough money that you're better off buying a ready-made bottle... ; )

Like I said, much more experimentation is warranted. I'll try out a little Tabasco in there next time. : )
