I decided to get a bit of an early start on the whole 250-new-recipes-in-a-year project, and after a quick stop by the grocery store for various supplies got home and began working on my first piece. (This recipe is straight from Emeril's Potluck, page 267.)

Actually, I missed all my shows last night. I'd meant to watch the Fringe premiere too.

And the cake is sooooooooooo good. *grin*

That sounds absolutely delicious!

Side thought #1: you can get dried lemon zest from Penzey's. Also dried orange zest, which might make an interesting variation.

Side thought #2: not paper towels, waxed paper or aluminum foil! That way you don't lose the glaze that drips off, which could then be peeled off the paper/foil and eaten by itself or with chocolate ice cream.

Ooooooh, good point on the waxed paper! I'll have to add that to my shopping list for next time. And annoyingly, I still haven't made the time yet to go down to Penzey's in Arlington and go shopping. I'll keep it in mind for the future -- maybe this weekend? (Not that zesting a lemon is a particular pain in the neck, but sometimes you really do want more than you've got fresh fruit for.)

Ooooh, that sounds spectacular! I love lemon stuff. I'll bet it would be great with vanilla ice cream and some chocolate sauce. Or with some fresh sliced strawberries. YUM!

Oooo, and now I have something to aim for next time I'm at the store. *grin* Strawberries... *sighs longingly*

Thanks! I do want to sift the confectioners' sugar next time, though... the glaze ended up looking a little bit lumpier than I'd prefer. *grin*
