Um...okay, interesting. Maybe if we can address this "slightly" thing...

Because saying, "I'm not gay" as something positive about your personality, by implication, makes it sound like being gay is a negative thing. Which, in turn implies prejudice on your part, which is not a positive thing.

But I am prejudiced. Everyone knows that. Just because I accept and tolerate my brothers' lifestyle doesn't mean I like it.

*sighs*

I'm just saying that being straight isn't something that's necessarily better than being gay or vice versa.

But, tolerance is good.

Of course it's better. It's NORMAL. It's probably the only normal trait I have, sheesh.

*gets the feeling this is one dead horse not worth flogging*

*decides to approach from a different angle*

Would you say you're a very strong-minded person? Very definate opinions?

Absolutely.

To the point of not being able to accept people disagreeing with you?

Somewhat. If we're still talking about the gay thing, it took a while for me to come around.

No, I'm just talking in general. Would you say you don't like admitting it if you're wrong about something?

*raises an eyebrow*

I think you're being specific here, not general. What, specifically are we talking about?

In case of the "gay thing" you're convinced that your opinion is correct, when there may be lots of good reasons to think that this isn't definately the case. I'm just curious if you apply this attitude to other things as well.

Like oaths for example.

*sees where this is going*

My Father asked us to swear an oath. I did it, and I take that vow extremely seriously. If you're planning on drawing some kind of line between this and Celebrimbor, it's not the same. He never swore the oath.

Do you think he should have?

kurufinwe March 30 2004, 16:14:56 UTC
That's not really an issue, it happened before he was born.

If you say so. I just thought maybe part of your animosity towards Celebrimbor might be that he disagreed with something that you feel strongly about.
