They still haven't definitively stated if they would write Finn's death in. Still, I really can't imagine them doing anything else. As you indicated here, Finn has too many strong ties to too many characters. He can't just disappear without ever mentioning him again like that extra football player that never said anything in season one. If they made up some story for him to "leave town" offscreen, they'd still have to come up with excuses why he wasn't present for important events in the lives of people he's close to ... and I think each subsequent mention (ie "We talked to Finn on the phone. He can't make it to the wedding because he's really, really busy. But he sends his love.") would become increasingly awkward. And while other TV shows have occasionally had this type of character leaving with awkward mentions ... I can't recall them ever doing it because the actor died. The death adds an extra level of awkward to the flip, lame excuses. They also won't recast. There have been some recasts on US network TV shows but it's not

I took the tribute and memorial talk to mean they will kill him off. It would just be too awkward to have Finn off screen all the time when the audience know the truth of his absence. They can't keep him alive forever. Him and Rachel were meant to be getting back together, he won't be at Kurt and Blaine's wedding, Glee competitions and etc

This was a very good interview considering the circumstances and I give credit to Ryan so being able to answer these questions as he has.
I think they are moving forward in the right direction. As difficult as it will be for the cast and crew to film a tribute episode/death of Finn, it's the only option that will bring closure and make sense for the long-term future of the show. Putting it three episodes in is a good choice- we will have the chance to come back into the groove of Glee for a couple of episodes instead of just being slammed with that. And then taking a break after that episode will be good for both the cast/crew and the fans.
yeah, i'm not always a huge fan of murphy but this is a lovely interview. he was candid about the professional issues and the personal ones surrounding cory's death. and i agree- seems like a decent game plan for the show. i wonder if they will still do the split season; i really hope not. i don't want to see kurt, santana, and rachel (and chris, naya, and lea) cut off from the rest of the glee family while they're all dealing w/this.
Cory loved Glee, love his Glee family and Lea must know that, I do not think Cory would have wanted that, for the show to be cancelled because of him. As family they are coming back to work on this because they needed it, if the cast and crew were close this will bring them even closer.
I am glad that everyone is respecting Lea's wishes, and I am glad she took the decision to move forward with Glee. And the episode for Cory will be beautiful I do not think Ryan will take this lightly because Cory was a son for him, he tried so hard to help him with his addiction.
