What's a "gay celebrity icon"? Also, what are these likenesses? Why is Blaine wearing a suit to school, why does Puck look like he's going to steal Brittany and had his face smashed with a hammer, what happened to Kurt's tall and magnificent hair, why am I left with so many questions that I don't want answered?
And why does Blaine look like a 40 year-old businessman? I've never been a big fan of Archie Comics (or their "real-life crossovers" which never look like the original). If not for Sue and the cheerleading outfits, I wouldn't have known this was a Glee tie-in.
The Archie writers did all their research on Glee from the kink meme, and an older!Blaine/S1!Kurt fill really caught their eye. Unfortunately for the rest of us, they couldn't draw it without making it vaguely horrifying.
...Is it me or does all the characters look more like their series 1 selves? Especially Kurt, that is defo Chris's series 1 face and series 1 hair. Erm... that said I suppose then it's nice they included Blaine. I've heard a bit about Archie not enough to get it is it just all crossovers or? I doubt the UK gets it so I'll rely on the internet for it :) Though given what I saw on AfterEllen Brittana fans will not be happy

From the looks of things, Blaine and Sam are the only post-season 1 characters included, and no one has graduated yet, so I think they probably did rely on season 1 for character designs.
Archie Comics is not all crossovers (though they seem to do a lot of them). Usually they're just short 20 page (or so) comics about the Archie characters. I've never been a big fan, because the stories are usually pretty simplistic for my tastes, but my cousins used to love reading them.
Also what is the last panel talking about? 'the likenesses outnumber the differences'? Is that Kevin and Blaine, Blaine and Kurt, or Kevin and Kurt? Or something else completely? *shrugs* Far as I can tell, the guy with E=MC2 on his shirt is just talking about the similarities between the Glee gang and the Archie gang - the plot is supposed to be something about a couple of characters from each series swapping places (so Veronica/whoever wind up in Lima with Kurt, while Blaine and Mercedes wind up in Rivendell with the Kevin guy). There's probably some explanation

I kind of get why they chose series 1 now actually. It was probably considered to be (arguably) the best series with the best characters. The only new "good" characters were Sam and of course Blainers. The rest of the post series 1 characters I don't think have received a semblance of popularity that these two have.
Out of curiosity, I downloaded the first part from Tumblr, and it wasn't good. If Blaine weren't there, I'd think that it was set in season one. The Quinn/Finn/Rachel love triangle is alive and well, Puck's still a bully, and I'm pretty sure that Brittany and Santana aren't a couple. The premise is that the Glee characters and Archie character are exactly the same people. It's very forced, especially when they pretend that Quinn and Betty have anything in common other than their hair color. It reminded me of a bad tie-in novel, which is surprising, since Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa wrote a couple episodes. That said, this is the first part, so it might improve later, but I wasn't impressed.
Interesting, no they aren't the same. As a kid I used to love the Archies comics (and cartoon) - haven't read them since then of course, but I can only see some similarities between the two groups.
Yes there's the triangle with Finn/Archie and a blonde and a brunette, but Quinn is more a Veronica than a Betty. Rachel was more of a combination of Veronica and Betty. I suppose you could compare Jughead and Brittany for their brain power. I have no idea how Puck fits in to the group. I don't remember the name of the guy in glasses (yes, it's been that long), but I kinda remember the character and he was pretty much a brainy stereotype, and honestly if they're gonna compare him to Artie??? No, just no.
Also, Archie was smarter than Finn.
I'm still interested though and will probably get it anyway. Just for the whole having it thing =)
Puck could be Reggie. Archie and Reggie are sometimes depicted as the bro version of frienemies...? and the glasses guy is Dilton, who may be the equivalent of Artie...?
Yeah, that would work. But still Reggie was outright mean in the comics. Puck's a "bad boy" but he also has a sweet side; Reggie Mantle has none. Also Archie and Jughead were more the bro's than Reggie and Archie.
