Discoveries

IV.

Kurogane was beginning to wonder if he was some kind of magnet for annoying blonds.

How many times did he have to brush this chick off before she got the hint? Still, she was a woman, no matter how annoying she was. Kurogane would not have a problem hitting her if they were on a battlefield, but there was no honour in hitting an unarmed woman.

But this chick was really tempting him to make an exception to that rule.

“So where did you say you were from?”

Kurogane sighed. She had already asked that a few times but he had not answered. “Japan.”

“Oh! Japan, really? Your accent doesn’t sound like any Japanese accent I’ve heard ...”

“A different Japan.”

“Oh, really?” She leaned even closer to him. “Where is that?”

“Kuro ... chan!”

A teasing voice whispered in his ear. A pair of long, lanky arms wrapped around him from behind.

Yes, Kurogane decided, he was definitely a magnet for annoying blonds.

“Are you flirting with the girls again? Naughty boy ...”

Kurogane could hear the smirk in the magician’s voice. He wondered if the expression on Fai’s face was as possessive as his voice sounded; he thought it likely.

“Sorry, dear. He’s already got a boyfriend.”

The woman huffed an offended breath and (finally!) flounced away.

Fai rested his chin on the ninja’s shoulder and whispered into his ear again. “I don’t suppose you’re going to thank me for that, hm?”

Kurogane glared, although he had to realize the futility of it when Fai was behind him and therefore unable to see the glare. But he also had to realize it would have about as much affect on the man, either way. “I was handling it.”

Fai laughed. “Next time, Kuro-bun, if you’re really not interested, just tell her you’re gay. Works like a charm.”

“I suppose you’d know from experience?”

“Not much, sadly.” Fai gave a tragic sigh. “Most women figure out I’m gay before they flirt with me.”

Kurogane attempted to elbow the annoying mage in the ribs. “Would you get off me already?”

“If you dance with me.”

“No.”

“Please?”

“I don’t want to dance with you.”

“Oh, Kuro-pon.” Fai leaned back against the bar, his long arms braced against the bar top behind him. He was still smirking. “You and I are always dancing, aren’t we?”

“No.”

“Okay.” Fai hopped up and stood in front of him, hands behind his back, and took a step backward toward the dance floor. “But I’m going out on the dance floor. And if you stay here alone, Miss Persistent is coming back-with reinforcements.”

Kurogane looked across the room, to see the other annoying blond with a group of her friends, obviously in conference and shooting glares at the stupid mage. “Oh, hells.”

“Unless Kuro-myu was only playing hard to get ...? Hmm?”

“Alright.” Kurogane sighed in resignation. “One dance.”

Fai laughed happily, grabbed his hand, and pulled him out onto the dance floor.

Kurogane stood still as a new song started to play. The beat of the music was slow and sensual. He had never danced the way the people around him were dancing (not that it counted as dancing), and he did not want to look like an idiot, so he did not move.

Fai rolled his eyes and leaned into the taller man. His voice was soft and teasing, and somehow Kurogane could hear it perfectly over the music, “If you don’t act like you like dancing with me, she won’t get the hint ...”

I'm shaking down to my boots
I've loosened all those sturdy roots
That kept me grounded

My knees are buckling
I try to take a step
But I cannot feel my feet

Then Fai moved against him. Fai took his hands and placed them on his slim waist so that Kurogane could feel the rhythm as he moved. Fai’s hands went to Kurogane’s waist, guiding with gentle pressure. Kurogane found himself falling into the rhythm of the magician’s movements, slow and sensual, like the beat of the music.

Kurogane closed his eyes, letting Fai lead him.

And with your weight you suffocate
I cannot help
But breathe you in

And with your size I'm paralyzed
I find myself
Find myself ... falling

I'm falling
I'm falling into you

Kurogane felt Fai’s hands slide from his waist, up his chest, over his shoulders. He felt Fai moving closer, closer. The beat of the song was in his ears and the beat of Fai’s body was pulling him in, and Kurogane was not thinking.

He opened his eyes, realizing how close their faces were. Fai was smiling a challenge at him.

You were the wind that blew me down
You've clearly swept me
Off my feet

And in my state of vertigo
I can't look down, can't feel the ground
So will you catch me

I'm falling
I'm falling
I'm falling into you

Then Fai twisted in his arms. Fai’s ass was swaying against his pelvis now, and Kurogane released a low groan. Fai took the ninja’s hands in his, his palms warm over the back of Kurogane’s hands, and guided the hands down from his shoulders, his chest, his stomach, to his waist. Lower. Fai’s hipbones fit into his palms and his fingertips were dangerously close to the other man’s crotch.

Kurogane let his hands stay there.

And even if I try to fight
You'll just keep on
Reeling me in

Nowhere to go
I can't escape
So I'll just keep on falling

Fai raised one of his arms, long fingers running through black hair. His other hand was still warm over Kurogane’s hand on his hip. Fai leaned back even further into him, so that silken strands of blond hair were tickling the ninja’s cheek. Then Fai turned his head a little and Kurogane lowered his chin and their lips were suddenly close.

Kurogane decided he must be under a magic spell. He felt like he was under a magic spell. There was no other way to explain this insanity.

I'm falling
I'm falling
I'm falling into you

I'm falling
I'm falling
I'm falling into you . . .

There was a loud crashing noise and the building shook. Everyone in the club stopped what they were doing and looked around fearfully.

Fai leaned away from Kurogane and looked toward the direction of the sound with a mildly interested expression. “What do you suppose that was?”

A second later, Sakura burst through the door. “Kurogane-san! Fai-san! This way! Hurry!”

“Hurry!” Mokona cried, from his perch on the princess’ shoulder. “Syaoran needs your help!”

“Our children are in trouble again, hm?”

Fai’s hand closed around Kurogane’s wrist, tugging the ninja along with him.

Kurogane was starting to acknowledge that he was feeling new things, strange things. He was starting to wonder about himself.

There had been a few times when he had been genuinely attracted to a woman. Few times, and far between. But for the most part, to women as a general species, he had to admit that he did not feel much attraction.

He had never been consciously attracted to a man before. Although that could be simply because he had never given the possibility of men any thought before now.

He had never really thought it odd, until now, that he had never felt much in the way of sexual desires. If he had thought about it, he would have thought that he had more important things on his mind.

But now, Kurogane was starting to realize that he desired things, sexual things. With Fai.

Of all people, with Fai.

He had never desired anyone the way he desired Fai. He wondered if it was normal, to desire someone the way he desired the stupid wizard. It did not feel normal to him, to desire someone so intensely, to the point of distraction.

The problem was, of course, that he was not certain of how Fai felt. He did not want to risk anything between them if this was just a game to Fai.

He could ask, but trying to get straight answers out of Fai was something like banging his head against a rock wall. Pointless, frustrating, and it gave him a headache.

Their current situation was another problem. As stupid as it was, Fai’s labels were quite accurate; he was the daddy and Fai was the mommy and they had two children and a manjuu to look after. At the moment, they were married, and divorce was not an option. Things could get very ugly very quickly, if he and Fai started something and it went wrong.

He could wait, Kurogane decided. He would wait for awhile, and see how things played out. Perhaps what he felt for Fai was something transient. Perhaps Fai would give him a more definite clue of how he felt about the ninja, though that possibility was doubtful. Perhaps with a little more time, he would see things more clearly.

But it was frustrating, to feel these new kinds of desires and have no way to satisfy them. With three children and a stupid wizard always around, and the fact that he frequently had to share a room with Fai or Fai and the brat (and sometimes the manjuu), it was difficult to find a moment or two of privacy.

For the moment, thankfully, he was alone.

Kurogane remembered one morning at breakfast, Fai licking a sticky drip of golden honey from one long, elegant finger with a long, pink tongue. He remembered Fai’s lips sliding down, sucking the finger into his mouth. He remembered blue eyes fixed on him the whole time.

Kurogane reached down, palming his half-erect cock through his trousers.

He thought of blue eyes, smiling lips, porcelain skin and blond hair.

When Kurogane came, there was a name gasped from his lips.
