Fluff vs Angsty Olympics -- Looking for interest
So far this is just a post looking for interest. I haven't set any dates or named any prompts yet. :)
Now that Finals season is drawing to a close, and we're all looking forward towards summer I've been thinking about reviving an old event for KuroFai that was lots of fun in my last fandom: the Fluff vs. Angst Olympics!! You may remember them from the Fullmetal Alchemist fandom... or from their much more enthusiastic cousin, the snarry_games!
What are the Fluff/Angst Olympics, you ask? Well...anyone who's been a part of this community for a while now will have noticed two distinct trends in Tsubasa fanfiction... the angst and the fluff. Some authors love to make you cry. Others love to make you melt. And we readers enjoy it, either way! But which is the real, prevailing force behind the fandom? Are Kurogane and Fai doomed to be a tragic couple at heart? Or can they rock the fluff with the best of them? There's only one way to tell, and that's to set them against each other to see which can win the audience's heart! In short, the Fluff Vs Angst Olympics is an event where teams compete against each other for the glory of their fandom!
The challenge chief will (me) come up with a number of prompts, one for however many members there are on a team. There will be only one set of bunnies for both teams. It will be the challenge of the people on the teams to take the ideas and write their own fics to them, fluffy or angsty according to flavor, and present them to the audience to read, enjoy, and judge!
The teams will have at least a week [edit: two weeks] of writing time, then the posting days begin. Each team member will write her or his own fic, and one fic will be posted per day of the Olympics. The teams should talk among themselves and decide who will take on which bunny, and who will post on what day. The audience will read the fics posted by each team, and then give points to each fic out of a scale of 1 to 10. Everybody's audience scores will average. (Contestants should not score the contest fics, but are encouraged to cheer their teammates on!) At the end of the posting days, when all the team members have posted and been voted on, the team with the highest total of points will win!
First, we would need to have volunteers. I hope to get teams of equal sizes, four or five people or so on a team (though we could run with as few as three.) Both fluff and angst writers need apply, of course. You don't have to have only done one or the other... just pick the side you want to represent, and sign up for the team! Right now I haven't set any dates yet; if you're busy for the next few weeks, that's fine. Just drop a comment saying you would like to participate and when you think you will be free, and I'll work out a good time!
