State Fair again today! I was supposed to work at the Franken booth until 6, but we were busy and I was having fun so I stayed until 7. I handed stuff out with Senator Mee Moua, who is full of energy and lots of fun ^_

mmmm - brats. I had schnitzels for the first time in Germany about two months ago. I didn't think I'd be a fan, but I was clearly mistaken. My favorite was the one with the fried egg on top....now I'm getting hungry. How much german do you have in you, and from which part? (I've been told that's a very american question to ask). I got to meet a distant, distant german cousin this trip, and here family history, and see where my great great grandparents grew up. It was very serendipitous. Have you been there?
my extended family on my dad's side is very VERY German. we used to get together to eat German food and polka when I was a kid. my dad's side is almost 100% German and my mom's side has a good chunk as well. not sure where my dad's side is from, as my great grandfather came over as a draft dodger and changed his name, so it's hard to track my family history (we're not even 100% sure what his name was before "Bauer").
that is so cool that you met distant family and got to see where your family comes from! I spent a summer in Germany when I was 16, back when I could actually speak the language ;) I was in a little town called Erfurt, which is about halfway between Frankfurt and Berlin.
I only got a cookie cone this year, as last year Jeff and I couldn't finish a bucket in a reasonable amount of time. there are still cookies left in the cone.
