Today is 25th. It's night in Japan right now, so Mello must be getting ready for his plans. I've been meaning to write this small detail for a while, and I guess that it's the perfect moment now. But it has spoilers from manga chapter 99, so please avoid them if you don't know about the Death Note story.

I second your opinion. And while Mello looked like he didn't want to have anything that would relate him to Near, beneath the surpressed exterior, there's a part of him that knew if he wanted Kira to be defeated, he had to coorperate with Near. Mello seemed excrutiatingly prideful, yet he did leave clues here and there for Near to dechiper. It's as if he wanted to keep their relationship as some sort of esoteric bond--in which the world didn't have too see that they're connected.

I don't even think that Mello looked like he didn't want to have anything that would relate him to Near; quite the contrary. It was him who not only started cooperating with Near, but also blatantly let Kira know that they were cooperating against him.

Gomen, I should explain my point more clearly. What I've meant to say is that he didn't want to coorperate with Near back at the Mafia vs SPK arc. I don't know, but I personally conclude that Mello changed after receiving his photograph :D. He became more open and quite willing to work in tandem with Near. To put it simply, scar!Mello had gone through a phase that made him more thoughtful.

yo creo que Mello sí lo hizo con la intención de ayudar a Near, pero también por orgullo. me imagino que después de la exploción, Mello se toma las cosas un poco más serias que antes (pues ya posee más información de Kira) y eso lo conduce eventualmente a reconocer que no podrá atrapar a Kira antes que Near. Por eso decide morir, evitando la humillación de quedar vivo como fracasado (Nisio opinó lo mismo) y secuestra a Takada para morír, pero decide que su muerte no será en vano y le da una ayuda a Near

La verdad es siempre he estado algo confundida sobre cuál era el plan exacto de Mello. Queda implícito en varias ocasiones que lo hizo por evitar que Near muriera, pero solía preguntarme por qué Mello pensó que Near iba a morir. En el juego D.Nd:Infection sí que conseguí darle una respuesta coherente a los planes de Mello, que aunque nunca sabré si es la verdad, para mí es muy válido porque encaja perfectamente en el canon. Y en fin, no puedo dar más detalles, haha.

Eso de que Matt ayudó a Mello a morir da algo de miedo (^^;

sí, creo que nunca sabremos por que Mello hizo lo que hizo. Puede también que al autor no se le haya ocurrido como sacarlo de la historia, y si es así, dudo que su muerte tenga una justificación emocional
