Date Clash...

So my beloved Maelstrom has announced it's event dates, including the date of it's new sister event, Odyssey, put together by the lovely kneeshooter... the problem however, is that it clashes with Amecon. ARGH

I'm leaning towards Odyssey I think, it's just that Ame is the only cosplay thing I go to in a year, and I already had costume's I wanted to make. So it's a pain either way. Will probably see about another con or something *sigh*

That is certainly a very good point. Ame's main selling point is seeing people I only see once a year, but Odyssey... well Odysseys a LARP event. :P

I have no idea if i'm going to Ame this year ~ its in an even randomer place and I'm not sure, its looking doubtful :)

Well if most people aren't going that should make the choice easier... though it it does seem a shame not to go to a con/have a meet-up all year... maybe we should all have a look at what other (better placed cons) are going on? :) Since no-one is really big on going to Ame. XD

I can't remember now but i Google Earthed it at the time and was like ??? never even heard of the University hosting it.

I'm not sure what other peoples plans are going to be or what getting time off work is going to be like.

It will be odd not having a con this year I agree :(

I'm pretty okay for any weekend, so it totally depends on other people for me. =/

It's mainly annoying because I already had costume plans for once! ^^; And yeah, after going every year for so long...=/

We would miss you cosplaying at Amecon. Maybe come to Kitacon (Mar 26-28) or just hang out in the bar at Minami Con (Apr 16-18)? You can sleep at the foot of my bed. =^_^=

What is so magical about the 13-15 August? Already had Amecon, Vintage at Goodwood, Festival in the Shire that weekend and now this LARP event. Is anything happening any other weekend in August?

I would miss me cosplaying at Amecon too. :( I mean I'd def. go to the cosplay ball, but I had plans for Ame. =/

I think Kita is already booked up? Not sure about Minami, I think it's quite far isn't it? I'll see if any of my con-buddies fancy them anyway, I guess. :)

And nothing's happening another weekend in August for me, typically. XD

Guess it is mainly about the people you're with.

Kitacon still has places (plus the hotel has a pool and sauna). It's a smallish hotel based event in northampton and was fun last year.

MinamiCon 16 is pretty popular and it sold out in 24 minutes! A lot of people without tickets just hang out in the hotel bar and cosplay. It's in Southampton so it's my 'home' convention so there is spare bed/floor space if anyone one needs somewhere to crash.

Have you been to any of the London MCM Expos? They are huge trade show type events, too big really. However hundreds of people cosplay outside. There is an effort to organise a sun raise cosplay photo shoot at 4:20am >_

I don't really fancy going just for the bar, seems silly. Tbh, I guess I'd liked to have stayed in my comfort zone (of Aya/Ame), and as lot of stupid stuff seems to happen at these smaller events...

I haven't no, I might consider them, but it's far from ideal for cosplay. Just one big crush by the sounds of it. =/

And 4:20? Pfft, only if I hadn't gone to bed yet.

Ahh I see, seems no-one's going eh? Well that makes the decision much easier, shame I can't do the costumes I wanted to, but it saves me trying to work out what I want to do for (hopefully) next Aya!

And sorry the money situation isn't improving. :( You'll get there hun!
